This story is a couple of days old, and if it has already been posted, I could
not tell by the thread titles. I have not been online for a couple of days, so
I apoligize if this is a duplicate thread. It is just too good not to post.

    Youtube video...

Rep. Hank Johnson: Guam could 'tip over and capsize'

He now says he was joking.... Watch the video and you can tell, he was
    not joking.

Come on, everybody knows it will only tip over if they all go to one end of the island. we'll just have to distribute them evenly, east, west, north and south and we'll be okay...............

Great archival footage for the next race....

Another reason for term limits.. or at least an intelligence test.

Yeah, but what if the Marines bring a few tanks? If they have even one practice tank battle that doesn't take place in the exact center of the island they're doomed.

    Wow.

Usually I'd say screw it congressmen don't know every issue, usually they're heavily briefed by the staff... in this case all I can hope is that this hearing was on April 1, and they exercised horrendous judgment by picking up some rando from outside the capital and gave him the congressman's credentials as a joke. The fact of the purposeful security breach on the part of the congressman and the lapse on the part of capital security, as well as the mockery of the process, would be preferable to the idea that this guy believes too many people on an island will "tip it over."

Screw it, if the Dems have to lose seats in November, this is a good one to start with. Give me the corrupt motherfrockers that have two brain-cells to rub together any day...

Wait, no, that could be worse...

Okay whatever, just sh1tcan this guy.

We should all mortified by this, and the fact that this guy is a sitting LAWMAKER, however.... you can't help giggle. I particularly like the hand gestures and leaning as he's talking about the island capsizing. :singing:

Not going to happen, This is one of the most heavily Democratic districts in the South, if not the nation with him winning reelection with 76% in a vontested race IIRC.
If he is going to lose, it would have to be a Democrat in the primary with support from the nation party.

My understanding is that Congress has the authority to toss him out. I'd approve of that.

Everyone should hold off on this one...

As pointed out by of all people RUSH LIMBAUGH, this guy has hepititis C. and was made to stay in Congress by Pelosi et al so they could have his vote. His mind is mush, becuase he is dying.

Yet, he still sounds more intelligent than Cynthia McKinney, who he replaced. Don't worry, by 2012 his district (any the few others) in Gerogia still held by Democrats will be re-districted when Georgia gets two more house seats so that these gerrymandered Democrat districts no longer exist.

I know a lot of people with Hep-C & Cirrhosis of the liver.
Not one of them believes that a island will tip over because of over
    population.

He may have Hep-C, but he was delared virus free in January.
He probably went through interferon treatment for the Hep-C
    .
The treatment does make you weak, but does not affect your mind.

I wish the man well, but it is clear that he is not competent to do
    the job he currently holds.

There are varying stages of liver disease. If someone reaches the end stage it's likely that he'll suffer from hepatic encephalopathy - as the liver becomes less able to filter toxins, they build up in the brain causing confusion, memory loss, difficulty concentrating and personality changes. It can also cause hallucinations.

Maybe the poor guy really does see Guam tipping over. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt - but someone really ought to make him retire if that's the case.

Island of Guam in Danger of Capsizing

At least, according to Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA), it is. This is one of the voices who controls our future. I am sure we all feel secure turning the nation's health care system over to men like him. God help us all.

And don't believe the liberal apologists who were saying he was just joking or that he was having some sort or diabetic reaction of something like that. The man is just an utter and complete moron.

EDIT: Thank you for the merge. I looked for a thread on this subject and was surprised not to see one, so I started my own.

Re: Island of Guam in Danger of Capsizing

The man is a complete moron. There's no question. I suspect he believed that islands are floating, in which case he would have been right on target with his question! At any rate, there are a number of moron politicians, especially in state government, but there are a few in Congress too. During the health care vote, Republican Congressman Devin Nunes warned of the "ghost of communist dictators" and urged the House to reject "totalitarianism." In my opinion, that's pretty darn moronic.

Re: Island of Guam in Danger of Capsizing

No, it wasn't a hijack at all. It was in response to your comment that "This is one of the voices who controls our future." I was showing you that there are idiotic voices on both sides (and personally I don't think they control our future). I take full responsibility for not making the connection between your post and my post explicit enough for you to understand. ;)

Even then, they would have to all simultaneously jump up and down in order to even tip the island a little bit!

Re: Island of Guam in Danger of Capsizing

Indeed, not a hijack at all. This guy isn't any dumber than, say, Joe Barton, Steve King, Michelle Bachmann, Mike Pence, or Louie Gohmert. There are oodles of morons in the House of Representatives (and even in the Senate). This isn't really a shocking development to anyone who pays attention. The main problem is that most people don't follow politics all that closely, which certainly works in favor of crazy and/or dim-witted people who manage to get elected mainly on the ignorance of the electorate.

What a sideshow it would be to hear this guy Hank Johnson and Joe Biden discussing Darwyns Theory On Evolution.
