They have now beaten us five of the last six meetings.

Really, I don't even think it is a Peyton vs. Brady thing. It's Peyton vs. Belichick and Peyton has been making him out-think himself. I really don't even know why the Colts have a head coach.

The only saving grace is that they have only won one super bowl in that span. However, I think they may get their second this year. Three game lead for homefield with only seven games left. Gonna be tough. They only have Denver at home and at Baltimore to challenge them for a loss, I think.

    One word. Turnovers.

During our super bowl years, we always seemed to win the turnover battle. Edgerrin always seemed to fumble at the worst times. Now it seems like we always lose the turnover battle.

Re: Remember when we used to own the Colts ...

The Pats could have just as easily won this game tonight. It was a game that came down to one or two plays. I feel confident the Pats can go into Indy for the playoffs and beat them if they are given the opportunity.

Yes, the Colts have won five of the last six meetings, but only one was in the playoffs. As long as the Pats get in, it is the meeting in the playoffs that ultimately matters.

Re: Remember when we used to own the Colts ...

Two reasons why the Pats were able to own the Colts was because they had great assistants like Weiss and Crennel. All BB had to worry about was coaching his own players. Because of the high turnover of coaches, BB is constantly trying to get his assistants on the same page.

The other reason, they had better players on defense. The defense has absolutely nobody that can get after the QB.

The Colts flat out own the Pats.

I'm still trying to remember the last time the Colts came to New England. How many years in a row have New England played in Indy? I don't know how the league makes it schedule but it never makes sense that New England have had to goto Indy for the last 3 years in a row.

Look at the DL the Pats had tonight...I dont think you can expect them to get after Manning, and if you blitz Manning eats you alive. I thought the defense played well for the most part.

Agreed. This is why i think the Colts need to avoid the Steelers. If they have to go through Pitt, they could be in trouble.

Re: Remember when we used to own the Colts ...

Last year, the Patriots win without the David Thomas penalty (or if it was atleast called AFTER the play, giving us our first down).

This year, the Patriots win if any one of seemingly a dozen things go there way.

I don't know what it is about the Colts, but the last two years they have been unbelievably fortunate. In fact, all you have to do is go back one week. Last week, the Texans kicker misses a chip shot (for an indoor kick) as time expires. This week, the Pats fumble on the 1/4 yard line for their first RB fumble of the year (at least according to the broadcast, but I can't think of another one off the top of my head).

Re: Remember when we used to own the Colts ...

When the referees come to the Colts aid when their in trouble it makes things easier to beat them. It's like ever since 2003 when they whined about the Patriots secondary being too rough on them things changed. The Colts got more breaks from the officials. Not just against the Pats. They pretty much do it most games the Colts play. The bogus PI penalty on Butler and that Faulk did get the first down on 4th and 2. I knew the referees would come to their aid when they were in trouble like usual.

Re: Remember when we used to own the Colts ...

You think the role reversal may have something to do with the NFL' s scheduling formula??? Let's see, we used to beat them, now we don't....we used to play them at home every year, now we always play in Indy. Guys, the homefield means one or two favorable calls per game, and an enhanced pass rush - that's enough to tip the balance to the home team when the teams are evenly matched. Some years there's such a gap in talent that it doesn't matter, like when they came in to Foxboro and destroyed us in the Earthwind Moreland period, or in 2007. But generally, the home field is the deciding factor in these games. I think we can beat them in the playoffs, but to be honest, I'd rather see SD take care of them again.

Re: Remember when we used to own the Colts ...

Pats should have put this game away at 38-21. Kicking FGs is like kissing your sister.

If you do that, you don't have to worry about time outs , refs, coaching gaffes, spotting of the ball, etc.

Maybe if you knew something about the NFL scheduling you would understand that homr games are determined by last years records. Go read up before you gripe about something you have no clue about. Good game PATS fans you should have beat us but we'll take it!!!!!!!!

Re: Remember when we used to own the Colts ...

Were any of you paying attention? We had GREAT pressure on Manning in the first half. We fell apart in the second half, as I've said in other threads, because we were missing four subs by that point, which is why our dline was so gassed in the 4th quarter.

Just pointing out the benefit of homefield, not complaining about the scheduling formula, Mr. Dumas. Shouldn't you be out celebrating with your friends at Sonic and tipping cows?
