I didn't go with Colvin just based on his radio work I heard this past season. The way he was talking, I didn't get the "I want them and they want me next year" vibe. Hell, if BB wants to bring back Colvin and Seau, I'm all for it.

Didn't hear any of that ... disappointing if your instinct is correct. The guy played better at OLB fresh from the UPS store than Woods did with a whole TC under his belt.

Always liked Colvin; he was one of the few guys on D the last few years that played with a visible emotion and intensity. Plus, he was/is a playmaker. I have no doubt he would have wrapped up Eli on that fateful play ...

I wonder why the Patriots were in such a hurry to cut Rudd

and Robertson? They found suitors very quickly. At the least,

they would have provided a little depth for training camp.

None of those players listed will improve the rush sorry.

Colvin he knows the system

I went with "none, please explain". Isn't in possible that N.E. will pick up somebody whose been cut early in camp? I know that isn't ideal, but with teams having to sign their rookies, isn't it likely a better option MIGHT be out there if the Pats are patient? I realize that has already happened with a couple playes (Brooks, JT, Foote) but it's still early enough in the offseason for it to happen again. BTW, I also heard Colvin on Dale and Holley and I'd be shocked if he comes back to play the way he spoke.

Napoleon Harris. Big (6'3" 255#) ILB who has had several solid seasons behind him, including over 100 tackles for KC in 2007. Would add depth at ILB along with Mayo and Guyton.

At OLB I'd consider taking a shot at trading for Jarvis Moss if his contract could be reworked to a more cap-friendly deal.

Jarviss Moss would be great but I dont think that Denver would give him up being that he was drafted in 2007. What do you think it would take to get him off their hands?

I love it how people want Willie Mcginnist back.. Here was a guy, who had 2 good seasons under Parcells, then was missing in action with inj and other issuies when he signed that 5 year 25 million dollar contract.. Then Belichick came back and put him on the expansion list for the texans, he came back and had ok seasons, espically 03 the indy game, and 05 jax game.. But he is a lazy ass, and did nothing in Cleveland and prob wont be back, but he was not the greatest lb in pats history.. ok , but not great..

I agree with Harris.

Denver was rumored to be offering him for a 7th round pick during the draft - there is a thread on the topic. His contract has 3 years left averaging around $2.3M, which seems the bigger issue. He was injured a lot for Denver and hasn't developed. He has tremendous pass rushing talent if he could put it together. If he was amenable to reworking his contract I'd hope the Pats would at least take a look at him

I'd like for us to bring in Simeon Rice as a camp body (yeah I know...he's like 400 years old) and if he sticks he sticks. Why not, he wants to get back into the game lets see what he has in his tank in camp

OK, I must say I don't get. 15 posters say we have enough depth at linebacker. Depth in camp and the pre-season must be sufficient to provide camp competition, be injury insurance in case one of the roster players is injured, and provide for camp and preseason reps. After the nine logical favorites for the roster, our depth consists of:

CRAIG
APPLEBY
CIURCIU

I would like whoever thinks this is enough depth to explain their reasoning.

THE ROSTER AS OF NOW
OLB: Thomas, Woods, Crable, Banta-Cain, Redd
ILB: Mayo, Bruschi, Guyton, Alexander

Well, as with another thread, I gave this list of linebackers who I believe are still unsigned. But, I'm unsure of any of them being able to play from a 4-3 to a 3-4 alignment.

Nate Webster, 31 - 6'0'' 232 lbs
Morlon Greenwood, 30 - 6'0'' 241 lbs
Paris Lenon, 31 - 6'2'' 235 lbs
Napoleon Harris, 30 - 6'3'' 253 lbs
Marcus Washington, 31 - 6'3'' 244 lbs

Here's a list that may or may not be updated. Because Marcus Washington and Tinoisamoa names aren't listed.

When the Patriot LB corps was "awesome, We had only 6 players, 3 OLBs and 3 ILBs, that played regular Defense. And three special team nominal players, who never played on the Defense. There is now only Alexander who is primarily a ST player, but he has at least one start, much more than can be said for Izzo and company... From the ranks of the UDFAs we get the Big, two-down runstuffer specialist SILB, that y'all wanted.

So the young un-proven but possible regular depth is at least two more players deep.... Thats all folks! The Coaches appear satisfied; and BB drafted like he was. Why aren't you? Or were you one of the Cassel Critics, even as BB, the Coaches, and the Players, all said Cassel is ready for a breakout season...

Sure Pisa sounded good but I think he would be signed if we wanted him so lets move forward with what we have! The coaches know the team and players better than we do and they are obviously satisfied with the current depth.

I'd be interested in Moss also. Harris at ILB would be decent. I still think Brooks has something to offer. I agree with mgteich, I'd like the immediate depth issue to be addressed at the very least.

Really thought we had a 2/3rds shot at keeping Taylor away from Miami, between us and Tampa, that's what bothers me the most--having another divisional foe upgraded

I'll take Rey Maualuga or James Laurinaitus........

Oh wait...........

Sorry, my bad............we passed on both..........

LaVar Arrington. 6-3 257
Beast in his last 2 full seasons (compared to what we have), had plenty of time to heal. He can sign a 2 year prove it deal with escalators then ship him to Oakland for a couple picks after the first seasons up.

The only player listed that would improve the roster IMHO is Rosie. His experience is much more valuable than any of the others' ability.

Assuming he is healthy and stays that way, that is.
