So the Patriots FO seems to believe the same thing that those of us in the pro-Moss camp have been saying. Moss is this team's top priority.

Also, it looks like Gaffney will be back, which is excellent news.

Well that's nice. So if Moss goes elsewhere, now it'll look like an even greater disappointment.

talk is cheap, signing a 34 year old undersized special teamer in izzo, a reciever who caught 0 ballslast year, a long snapper, and a 35 year old linebacker on the down slide is not my idea of signing impact players

If you are Moss, even if you meant what you said about returning to the Patriots, don't you want to see what the market offers for you anyway? That way, when you do sign with the Patriots, you can point to the other offers and quantitatively say "this is what I gave up to stay here." Then he and the Patriots have a measure of the value of his "goodwill".

    I don't think that's unreasonable.

It damn sure better be, he makes it all a lot easier. I agree they should focus on signing their own, but adding Sheppard in a trade or working something out with Pace would be beautiful.

Special teams are one third of the game and Bruschi can still provide quality in a rotation.

But none of those signings are "flashy," right, Mike Felger?

One could argue that we need some "flash" on defense. But just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't.

Maybe we should get Jerry Jones in here to tell us about bringing some more 'wow' to this defense. :D

Exactly. And if at the end of the process we find he didn't really mean what he said and it will take that bank breaking deal he assured Kraft it would not require to keep him here, then he likely isn't meant to be here and could have befome disenchanted had we forced his hand. And people forget what Randy's performance is like when he's not fully engaged and happy.

Plus, he could help out Belichick on the sidelines during games!

Among the Patriots players to re-sign obviously Moss is #1 priority and

Gaffney #2 priority. Gaffney is the surer bet to re-sign.

This is the most ignorant and arrogant retort.

How about people want Moss back because they actually believe he could, you know, make sense for the team. That it could be the best decision to make the Patriots competitive.

The people who would rather watch the Pats franchise burn into a 1-15 season to prove their fanhood than stomach giving talented players credit and their due compensation are the truly obnoxious fans. If the Patriots and Oakland swapped names and uniforms tomorrow, would you still root Patriots or would you now root Raiders?

The personnel matter, so stop pretending they don't. That or go root for a red, white and blue bedsheet, dishrag, bath towel and curtain. You know, "the laundry."

Hey guys, look at me. I'm making references to seasons from the 70's-early 90's and being born before you.

I am very neat. My football views are more important because I was able to experience the 1-15 season, hail me.

I still wear my Steve Grogan jersey when having sex with my wife. Why? Because I'm a real fan. Rabble rabble pink hat, bandwagon, Bledsoe, rabble rabble.

Am I cool yet? Not enough irrelevant references to teams from the 70's and how I've been a season ticket holder for ever? Come on guys.

Does anyone think that Chad Johnson might be in the this mix? Shefter said that Moss is not giving a "discount".

Also, the Bengals have lost Smith and Williams. They didn't get the Rogers deal done

Sounds like they might need picks.

Hey pal! What the hell business is it to you when people started to
follow the Pats? I started following the Pats in 1959 at the age of 27.
If you are able to do simple arithmetic, I am 75. Probably old enough
to be your grandfather although I'm glad I'm not.
In a loose leaf notebook underneath my computer desk are Patriots
rosters back to 1960. To my right is a needlepoint with the old
Patriot logo on a white helmet set on a red background. To my back
is a picture of Adam kicking the winning kick in the snow game.
You young squirts have been spoiled by the current success of the
Patriots. You haven't had to worry about losing your team because
they might not be able to compete with the Giants on TV. You haven't
seen most of the Pats draft picks defect to the NFL because the
dirt poor Sullivan family couldn't afford them. You haven't had to watch
complete duds like Clive Rush try to win football games and beg on
his knees when he was fired. What I consider myself is a part of living
history with regard to the Pats.

This entire post is either brilliantly sarcastic or utterly lame, and I honestly can't tell which. If you're serious, then you're going to have to excuse me while I decide not to care how old you are or how long you've been a fan. If you're not, then bravo, great post.

I hate the sky is falling posts...but on the other end of the stick is this post.

So because you are 75 you are a "better" fan than DV? I couldn't even read a Pats site or sports site for a couple of weeks after the SB because the result hurt to much...but that doesn't make me a "better" fan than anyone.

I have seen 1-15 seasons...I don't have the Pats rosters going back to 1960 or any needle point...but I do have a SB 38 ticket that took me over a year to pay off and a Authentic custom jersey in Home , Away and Alternate....personally if you don't have those things there is NO WAY you are as good a fan as me!!

I put this post in the same catagory as the sky is falling ignorance.

I too want them to resign Moss badly, I think he adds a dimension we will miss if he is not resigned. I will believe that he wants to be a Patriot and give us a little discount until I hear it from him...enough of these "sources close to Moss" BS...the "sources" also said the signing was imminent then they weren't close. I wouldn't want them to sign him to the rumored 12 mill per year Panthers "offer"...lets keep it reasonable...somewhere where we could still sign other good players
