But we didn't win the SB this year, so this is just another one of BBs idea that are stupid and he must change.

As we all know, one of the HC's jobs is to coach the coaches. The less new, or total, coaches the more time Bill has for each coach and position individually.

Re: Reiss:Looking closer into smaller coaching staff

the pats have won nothing since weis and crennel have departed.

no offensive coordinator was evident last year.....in a bad way

so by your logic, the pats didn't win, so BB is a goddamn genius

Typical dumb argument. The were a Samuel dropped INT from a PERFECT SEASON. But, no, they weren't as good as when Weis and Crennel were there

It's a stupid question because it has nothing to do with the coaching staff. Unless maybe Belichick should have had an Interception Coach to make sure they hold onto the ball.

Meriweather's drop was worse than Samuel's fwiw. I never agreed with most that Samuel should have caught that, it was way over his head.

I think it would be dope if BB was the only coach.

    It is an intractable problem.

Bill Belichick will never have an assistant coach that can look him square in the eye and say, "Look Bill, that idea you have is stupid and it won't work" Crennel and Weiss could do it because they were there from the beginning.

No matter who you hire or what title you give them they are going to be "yes men" to BB. There are only a few people who have the crediblity not to be a "yes man" but Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher and Bill Parcells are not going to accept a job as a coordinator.

I don't see why this is true, unless Belichick is uninterested in what anyone else has to say. I just don't think that is true. And if the current staff isn't willing to speak up they aren't worth a damn.

I disagree, Bill doesn't come across that way towards his coaches, and it's not as if Dante Scarnecchia and Ivan Fears haven't been here from the beginning and Pepper nearly as long. It's up to Bill to give his coaches the room to grow into that role - I'd say the number of coaches and execs who have left here to take HC, Coordinator, and GM jobs argues against your pessimism.

He admits having all yes men afraid to speak up or disagree could be a problem.

I'm not saying it like that, but since the question and answer are pretty obvious and you don't know what the point is, I'm synthesizing and exaggerating the point so you don't ask me what the point is again.

He has some talented veteran coaches, but career company men like Scharneccia haven't lasted through multiple regimes by making waves.

It's great to have guys without further ambitions such as them, but you need to also have guys you might lose, that might want higher jobs and that might disagree with you. That last point is specifically acknowledged in the interview by BB.

So I suppose they would be better off quiting since they didn't sign Weis or Crennel because obviously they won't win anything

Yep, I'll admit having all yes men is an organizational failure, but why should anyone assume there's nothing but yes men on the coaching & personnel staffs?
