We got a solid #2 CB for this price. Compare that to what Randall gay got. Very good value.

    Re: Bryant Deal---cheeeap

As long as Bryant isnt the worst player on the field in next years SB, we got more for 3.5mill less.

For the price, you just can't go wrong here... great value no doubt.

I really think you draft cornerbacks and pick up the less glamorous FAs.

Generally, the sought after corners command huge dollars and are not worth it value wise. Besides Champ Bailey and a (very) few others, there isn't millions and millions separating these corners.

Asante is overpaid and Gay is a joke.

A couple good choice, Richardson and the 3 vets we picked up will be much stronger than a team with one or two overpaid starters and no depth.

Same as WR. If you're not talking Randy Moss or a handful of others, it's amazing how many successful receivers are low draft pick overachievers.

It's a distorted market and you need to know you have a difference maker or you might as well be conservative with the cash.

You forget the basic economic principle of comparative advantage.... Let say on a rating of 100 your run of the mill cornerback is an 85 (yes I'm using Madden logic).

So I could pay an 85 cornerback $1 million a year

However, there are very few, perhaps 5 or less, 95 rated corner backs that can command $10 million a year.

Is the gap between 85 and 95 (of 100) worth $9 million? That is what your team has to decide. Where is the value for your system -- heavy pay the DL, the LB, or the DB? I think our system is overall expensive on the D-side with DL, DB and LB in that order. DB over LB you say? Absolutely. Which makes me think we make a splash trade or a #7 draft pick to shore up the position.

I'm pleased enough with the deal, too, but can we please stop assuming that Richardson will make ANY kind of impact? He was a rookie Day Two draft pick who hasn't played a down in an NFL game. We can't count on ANYTHING from him at this point so I'm not sure referring to him as a known quantity, individually or as part of a group, is all that useful.

its a good deal, i think the coaching staff (capers) is going to help a lot with the corners, i think bryant has potential to be better than he has been, with the power of our staff.

    It's definitely great value.

Does anyone other then Eagles management seriously believe Asante is worth 60 million?

I do think the "only so many athletic 300 pounders" situation is true. If you don't have top DL, you'll pay top dollar for vets, or end up with jags.

If you can't get Ted Washington, you're not allowed to stuff two lesser linemen in the uniform as a replacement. LOL

There are lots of competent cbs nosed out by younger guys. There are also rookies playing under reasonable contracts who end up with big paydays in 5-6 years.

The tradeoff is a lot more time spent coaching and evaluating FAs.

 Explain, please (since I see a lot more millionaire LBs in this D than DBs).
