P.M. Practice

FOXBORO - The Patriots are taking it fairly easy during their final practice before Friday's preseason opener with the Falcons.
During the first portion of practice, the second-team offense ran a few plays against a defense comprised of the Pats starting offense which just jog-walked through the motions. Still, it was kind of funny to see Tom Brady lined up at inside linebacker and Kevin Faulk at corner. The funniest part was when safety Corey Dillon got beat over the top on a long pass to wide receiver Rich Musinski and Dillon, instead of giving chase, waved both hands disgustedly at Musinski and stalked away.

Dillon also dropped a lofted pass during warmups and immediately grabbed the ball on a hop and punished it for not cooperating it by booting it out of the end zone.

Josh Miller threw passes to long snappers John Condo and Lonie Paxton and kicking hopefuls Martin Gramatica and Steve Gostkowski. Gramatica seemed a little suprised when Paxton jammed him off the line.

Trot Nixon is watching practice.

Practice notes

Notes from this evening's practice:

* The backup units had most of the work in this session, with quarterback Tom Brady not an active participant. At one point, Brady was lined up on defense as the second-string offense walked through some plays.

* Matt Cassel was zipping the ball into his targets, connecting with receiver Kelvin Kight, tight end Walter Rasby and receiver Keron Henry on three straight plays. Each throw had nice velocity.

* Linebacker Mike Vrabel was running with the scout team as a tight end and had a few nice catches.

* Linebackers Freddie Roach and Eric Alexander had interceptions in 7-on-7 work. Later, cornerback Hank Poteat picked off a pass. It was Poteat’s second interception in as many days.

In practice earlier they had:
Gay as Deangelo Hall
Mike Wright as Keith Brooking?
Willie Andrews as Lawyer Milloy
And i think Jeremy Mincey was someone but couldnt figure out the number.

Funny that they make Vrabel = Alge Crumpler.

Do they think that little of Warrick Dunn to put Patrick Cobbs as his imitator? Jeez, i know its practice and all but i would have at least put faulk or maroney they're more Dunn's speed.
