Day 14, 2nd practice

FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots have taken the field for their second practice on the 14th of training camp. This is the team's 22nd overall public session since camp opened July 28.

Of particular note is that rookie defensive back Willie Andrews is wearing a white jersey. The white jerseys are for offensive players. Andrews has been impressive working as a scout-team receiver in recent practices. The Patriots have been working with a shorthanded situation at receiver.

Quarterback Tom Brady has returned to practice after missing the morning session.

Those not in attendance include: receivers John Stone and Chad Jackson; safeties Rodney Harrison and Ray Ventrone; cornerback Antwain Spann; running back/fullback Patrick Pass; inside linebackers Freddie Roach, Mike Vrabel, Monty Beisel and Tedy Bruschi; defensive linemen Le Kevin Smith, Marquise Hill and Jarvis Green; offensive tackles Matt Light and Nick Kaczur; tight end Daniel Graham; and outside linebacker Chad Brown.

The practice is being held in shorts, shoulder pads and helmets.
We'll have more after the session, which is scheduled to end around 7:30 p.m.

If he could double as our 5th or 6th receiver AND defensive back, it will help us keep both Automatica and The Ghost on the team.

Harumph, I was waiting to hear Patrick Cobb was working with Dabol full time, now they've gone and grabbed the fastest DB for a tryout. What is that "V" word again?

Very, very interesting. I don't want to get ahead of ourselves but this could definitely help.

How big is the guy.

on the Patriots roster page http://www.nfl.com/teams/rosters/NE he is listed at 5-9 183, but if you click on the link and are led here http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/405626 he is listed at 5-10 195.

I thought he looked basically the same size as branch though I admit I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to him.

Anyone know how big he really is?

PS: YOu may notice a certain player missing from the list here

NFL.com's rosters don't have rookies - yet. They're always at least 8 years behind.

Also, the individual player pages are more updated than the roster. Always go with them.

The player missing from the roster isn't a rookie!

He must have taken me too literally when I said he'll takeover Bethel's spot on the roster!

Classic BB on andrews as receiver

"Q: Based on a couple of plays from him being on the scout team, just curious if you would consider giving Willie Andrews a look at receiver?

BB: We'll look at him.

Q: Did you notice those plays? [Laughter]

BB: Did you notice [Doug] Flutie kicking last year? You want to make Flutie a kicker now? It's practice. We'll see how it goes. We'll do what's best for the team. I think it's a little early. "
