I would think that would make for a "non-entity" scenario. This strikes me as a bit Ed Reed-ish. Wayne is clearly someone BB has a bunch of respect for and could be an interesting value signing but it's also probably a year or two too late in his career. By all accounts Reed was a complete non-entity in the playoffs last year.

Oh, I guess I should've realized that. Lol sorry!Of course I meant Wayne. Edited.
I personally would like the team to bring Wayne in on a low risk, one year deal. At best, he is a smart veteran presence who can allow McDaniels to potentially move other guys around more. At worst, he is washed up and cut in TC with little cost.
Just saying, a top 5 of WRs of Edelman, LaFell, Amendola, Wayne and Dobson (or whichever WR makes the fifth spot) COULD be good. You could put any of Edelman, LaFell or Wayne outside or in the slot at any time. Combine that with Gronk and Chandler doing their thing and it would make opposing HCs cry "deception!" all year long.

Why are the prospects of a high draft pick receiver who had success early, flaming out funny to you? Just wondering.
I would definitely give him a camp invite and make him beat his competition.
I agree that it is probably more likely he goes to another team, but he seems sincere in his desire to go to a "contender". I doubt all four of those interested teams fit that bill, and not many teams in a true contender status are in a position to throw lots of money at an older WR. If he is only playing another year or so, and wants a ring, where else is more likely than the defending champs? If he's so washed up that he can't beat out Dobson then I wouldn't think he would be likely to make another "contender's" roster.Sure, we can bring anyone who has been a star to camp for NO bonus money and for a minimum salary plus bonuses (a show-me contract).
We have this discussion every year. We and it about Reed.
So, I agree. if Wayne wants to come and compete with no guaranteed money, we'll welcome him with open arms. BTW, when the media thinks that four teams are seriously interested, I think that they are talking about something more serious than a free tryout, which is what this look-see approach is.
