This smut has gone on too long. The "weeklyworldnews" of the NFL has been stoking this fire, and they have gone too far. We have no recourse as fans to halt this avalanche of innuendo, this shameless smear campaign, against our franchise, owner, coach and players. The least we can do is make our own message board a refuge from this refuse.

Let's take it another step and stop posting anything to do with this camera business. I am sure most of you have been upset about this as I am. Lets stop getting caught up in and just talk about San Diego. All the BS will work it's way out and there is nothing we can do except raise our own bloodpressure. Let's stop responding and I am boycotting PFT.

Boycotting his ads will be more effective...don't click on any of his ads, and don't sign up for any products or services through his site.

More to the point:

1. Get firefox
2. Install adblock plus
3. Go to the rumor mill page. Right-click on every ad you see and click 'adblock image'
4. Hit the adblock icon (looks like a stop sign) to bring up a window with every asset that's loaded. Double click these ones to block them:

Code:
http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js
http://www.statcounter.com/counter/counter.js
http://view.atdmt.com/ (more after the slash, but it may vary, and there may be more than one)
http://4.adbrite.com/mb/text_group.php? (more, varies)
http://c17.statcounter.com/t.php? (more, varies)
http://profootballtalk.us.intellitxt.com/intellitxt/front.asp?ipid=6614

5. Visit all you want, come back here and laugh at him. For the purposes of his advertisers you're largely invisible. (You'll still appear on his raw access logs, but it looks like he's using scripts to do his stats for him.)
6. Yeah, don't link directly, that bumps his Google pagerank.

The Brady "rumor" was the last straw...Never going back.

No, you have to not visit his site, because he makes money not on click throughs of ads but of page views of ads.

I agree, no more PFT.

Well gosh, we were all cloak and dagger after Super Bowl XL weren't we? Back then, any conspiracy against the poor innocent Seahawks was to believed. It was all fixed and stuff... get on your tinfoil hat, whoo!

But now -- all this cheating talk is just totally science fiction? I mean, what kind of nut would believe such stuff?

By the way, PFT is pretty respected when it comes to reporting things the mainstream media won't touch. Like it or not.

Why do you say that? I doubt anyone is paying him for pageviews.

Excellent post!

I haven't read PFT for months. Here's another recommendation: don't watch the four letter network either.

GREAT idea...hear that Florio...you lost this group.

I will NEVER post a link of theirs, go to their site or even give them a second thought going forward.

Profootball talk is DEAD to me now.

I suggest we all follow suit.

It's funny, I'm not seeing any Florio defenders out today. Cat got your tongue?

Today's editorial from ass hat is just par for the recent course.

Reading PFT is a little like watching an aging athlete try to stay in the game well past his prime. It was once great, truly cutting edge, truly special, truly a MUST read.

But in the last 6 months it has degenerated into nothing more than a tabloid rag. A shadow of what it once was.

Rumors and real reporting have been replaced by the endless opinions by Florio on issues he claims to have inside information. I've always suspected most of Florio's sources were made up, carefully crafted to weave into his editorials. Now I'm convinced of it. Maybe he is the one who should be coming clean.

This is the danger of the new media. There's no real accountability. As someone who works in what he calls the old media, I can't use anonymous sources unless I tell my editor their identity. In most cases, the editor will call the anonymous source to confirm what he/she said. With Florio, this crucial step isn't necessary because he owns the site. Again, there's no accountability. The opportunity for abuse should be obvious.

Today I ended a 7 year relationship with Sprint. And when I called customer service, I told them Mike Florio at PFT sent me.

PFT = turd.

You can't polish a turd...

Give me a break.

The second PFT says anything negative about the Pats everyone on this forum moves to boycott Florio. It's ridiculous and it happens every time.

(And when Florio mentions the Colts salary cap, he's absolutely right! Of course!)
