Tank was playing the ILB position and splitting time with Mayo last season in camp until his bad knee injury, and if he sticks with the team for another 1 year contract, I could see him possibly staying there and splitting time with Bruschi,Guyton and our other ILBs since the ILB depth at this point has less depth than at Safety with the assumption that Rodney returns again.

I could also see Tank returning as a split ILB/S on the team and being used in sub packages at the ILB as well as being used on ST.

Since he is just in his 7th season and is versatile in 2 areas,I think its important that we keep him around if he is recovered from his injury and can stay healthy into September.

Plus I think he was only making $600,000 last season which would not put a big dent on the current cap and since he is familiar with the system would be easy to re-sign and have him back out there with his knowledge of Pees schemes.

I dont have any problems with Tank coming back!! It sucks we didnt really get a chance to see what he could do in our system because of his injury so bring him back!

I would love for Tank to join Mayo, Bruschi, and Guyton inside.

Bruschi is not an every down player anymore.

I don't know. His wiki has him at 4 ft 11 in.

I think we need to get taller on defense.

    Tank Williams

He's 6'2" and I really want him back next year. Im really curious as to what he can do in this system and with his versatility Im guessing he will be able to accomplish a lot. And its not like we're gonna have to break the bank to get him.

Oh yea... forgot all about the Tank. He was looking real good in camp... not that that means a lot, but stilll... always good to have veteran depth.

    Yes. You got it.
I thought the "We need to get taller" was a giveaway.
But these are serious ( and furious) times on this board.

Tank Williams has now had 3 major knee injuries in his career. I wouldn't count on him playing in the NFL again, much less making an impact.

I hope he gets another shot somewhere if he's healthy, but I think he'd be a longshot to make a roster.

    Wiki Update

He is 9 ft 11 in.

We need to get shorter on defense.

I, for one, thought it was a funny post :D

Now for Tank. I would really like to see us bring him back. He was one of the few Titan players that I actually liked, and was excited to hear we signed him last year. BRING HIM BACK BILL

This is hard to assess as we never really saw how he adjusted to this D and how much he had left in the "tank".. no pun intended.

I thought he was SS in the Rodney mould? So not TECHNICALLY an ILB?

And that raises another point. Could Rodney, if recovered, come in and play ILB on first down?

We forget, we have a speed guy in the middle for passing downs: Gary Guyton. At this point, he has equal quickness to Williams, I'd bet. Also outweighs the safety by about 20 pounds.

The theory behind the hybrid S/ILB was to offer more speed in coverage on passing plays; an alternative to the nickel back on passing downs. On first down - typically a running play - the team would be better off with a bigger, stronger linebacker than a safety to tackle a running back.
