I recall a Coach who declined coming to the Arizona Cardinals. He said something that I have always remembered.

"I want an Opportunity. Not a sentence."

Gary Kubiak has turned down numerous HC opportunites (or interviews, anyway), it's certainly not unprecedented.

i think he knows hes next in line to be hc of the nep, once bb decides to retire, hopefully he wont leave b4 then, and i dont think hell leave for the nyj, cuz of their cap situation, he'll be blamed when they do terrible, even though its cuz of the way theyve handled their cap situation over the last several yrs
anyway, my prediction is he'll stay for next yr, but then get a great offer somewhere for 07, and leave for that

did this need another thread?

I think BB, as a mentor and a friend, can be very helpful to him in giving advice about making sure that he becomes a head coach when he is ready and in the right situation. I think NOW and the J-E-T-S are criteria that fail both tests.

exactly what i thought the other day

My hope is that the Pats keep winning, EM keeps stringing them along, their other HC choices go by the wayside, and the team is left in disarray as the draft approaches. Also, their fan-base at this point is DESPERATE for Mangini. If they don't land him, they're not going to like ANYONE else. Pretty funny, actually.

BB was smart enough to say "no" to that situation. Granted, he gave the reason of wanting to get out of tuna's shadow. But Boomer Esiason said the other day that it is the worst job in football, possibly the worst job in all of sports.

Something to be said for that...

Yeah, Kubiak, always seemed like a sharp guy, good football man. Wonder why he eschews the head coaching scene. Must be some Denver fans around here that might have an opinion.
