Ray Lewis allegedly cheated to come back from injury

Nice thoughts Ivan but I am not that idealistic.

Ravens fans were jerks about SpyGate and what goes around comes around.

Said differently, they richly deserve a little misery and buzzkill.

Two unrelated points:

1. How great is it that two of the biggest phonies in the Sports World -- A-Fraud and Ray Lewis -- are being taken down a big notch on the same day?

2. It makes us feel good to say "of course, the Pats were lousy in the AFC Champ game so this is more about double standards etc. than that game." I get that. But consider this: The Ravens lost just ONE GAME this year with Ray Lewis on the field. He was their on field coach and emotional leader. Maybe they don't even make that game without him. Mabye they don't play as well without him. I don't expect and would not argue that the Pats deserved to win that game. But let's not forget that having a healthy Ray Lewis on the field was a difference maker for the Ravens and probably had a lot to do with why they got hot at the right time. Just saying.

Of course he did; is anyone even remotely surprised? Normally I wouldn't care, but considering that the Ravens, collectively, were world-class douches re: SpyGate (see: Suggs, Aybanjaderoagfiriojgt, Harbaugh), they can go **** themselves. They were always whiners and hyprocites, and now they're cheaters too.

Theoretically, yes. But Ray Lewis didn't test positive for it. I'm guessing there is language in the CBA that says that the league can't suspend a player for just admitting to it, without actually being caught (tested) for it.

Guess again. I know for a fact that this is not the case in baseball, and I'm virtually positive that the same holds true for football.

For example, I'm pretty sure that Rodney Harrison never test positive for HGH, but the league was made aware of the fact that he had taken it, and that was all the evidence that they needed. I believe that the standard is that if there's enough evidence to convince an arbiter that illegal substances were taken, then a suspension can be levied with or without a positive test.

I know full well this won't be received well in this forum but i really don't get how ruining the Super Bowl for Raven fans makes up for what happened to Patriot fans in 2007 and beyond, and i have a friends who are Raven fans who have screamed "spygate, spygate" for years. What The Boston Herald, ESPN, and A-Hole Specter did then was disgusting and disgraceful and i realy don't wish that on any fans, especially when they are trying to enjoy a rare moment for their team's. Rather than take pleasure in it fans should be screaming against this kind crap so that the media will be warned against it going forward. I realize that is really idealistic and unlikely to happen but once again i just don't see how ruining the SB for other fans makes up for the crap that we went through. I don't take pleasure in seeing other people have their day in the sun ruined simply because it happened to the Patriots. let the fans of the ravens and 49ers enjoy their weekend, their teams earned it and they should enjoy it.

If Patriot fans really hate what happened then their anger would have been best channelled by putting the piece of sh.t that is the Boston Herald out of business. More than any other organization they are the ones responsible for the fiasco around that Super Bowl. Had the editors at The herald done their job the story would never have hit the press, It was crap and a good editor would not have let them run it.

Is it you Tebow?

If you're recovering from an injury like Rodney Harrison I really have a hard time coming down on these guys. I find Lewis to be a fraud and awful human being but to remain consistent I can't kill him for this. I look at all the ACL tears and how quickly players are coming back. Do people think this isn't happening with the help of banned substances? I think they're using them almost for certain and that includes Wes and Tom. I have no issue with it in those cases. It's much different than Merriman stacking 8 different steroids and HGH to gain a competitive advantage.

I do agree that the national media needs to be consistent and kill Lewis like they did Rodney.

are you serious? So according to you there should be NO banned substances in the NFL? You can't have it both ways. You can't allow PED's or other drugs/substances that speed up healing and then on the other hand ban OTHER PED's or substances......it is either ALL OR NONE for any substances that affect a players performance or physique.....Once you allow a substance to "speed healing"....you don't think a player is going to use it after every game in the season to pick them up for the next week? Again, Can't have it both ways.....Lewis should be IMMEDIATELY suspended for not only VIOLATING The league's substance abuse policy.....but LYING REPEATEDLY about it....even when they have indisputable evidence on TAPE ....what a moron!!!!

Nobody ignores the "murder thing"--some people just realize that a person's whole life is not defined by whether his friends decide to stab someone in the middle of a brawl. Ray seems to be a mixed bag, like all other people. Oh and by the way, almost everyone in the NFL is on something illegal at one time or another, it is just more accepted than it is in baseball.

Read the evidence on this.....Ray wasn't just a bystander/wrong place guy in all of this....he WAS a participant. Victims blood on him....the suit he was wearing that entire night was gone when cops came and he was wearing another outfit....Victims blood on interior of his limo....not as much blood on his friends.....And witness finger him as the main aggressor. Make no mistake.....Ray Lewis Murdered/was heavily involved in the murder...of those victims....and should be doing life in jail....Google the evidence in the case...very damning...got off because of who he was...and Modell (believe it was Modell) helped him alot.....He'll be judged one day......hopefully fire and brimstone for this scumbag! Go SF!

That's nice thinking, but sorry - what goes around, comes around. If SF wins on Sunday, the first thing I'm going to try and do is get a message - text, tweet, e-mail or whatever - to Suggs, Ayanbedajo, Lewis and Harbaugh reminding them that the Ravens haven't won a SB since Ray's night of infamy in Atlanta. If that makes me small and vindictive, then I plead guilty - with pleasure.

Where did I disagree with you or bring up the taping? Of course they were all doing it. Guys with no ax to grind like Jimmy Johnson said as much. Old timers like Charlie Taylor and **** Butkus laughed at it and said that was nothing you should have seen what Halas and Allen did.

Problem was HARDLY ANY old timers, old time coaches, or current coaches came out and PUBLICLY SAID anything about the "RIDICULOUSNESS" of the witch hunt that was going on against the Patriots. They ALL TAPE F(KING SIGNALS....and back in the old days (and EVEN TODAY) they picked up signals and wrote them all down on clipboards....This was a whole bunch of BS and supposedly a few old time players and coaches WHISPERED under their breath about what a load of horsesh#t it was the GOD-dell was taking it that far.....but NONE of them (or hardly any) had the BALLS To come forward and STRONGLY VOICE their opinion....Bunch of F*(KING SHEEP!!!!!

And it was a Boston writer and "newspaper" that was responsible, Tomase has been relegated to irrelevance but unfortunately the Herald is still around. I agree that the NFL wants nothing to do with this right now but that is simply the way it is. Imo the Ravens will lose Sunday and the issue will disappear with Lewis' retirement.

I'm still amazed that that FAT TUB of Dog SH(T wasn't fitted for some cement shoes and taken for a late night swim in the Boston HAH-BAH after what he did......

On my way home tonight, ESPN Radio was discussing this. Schlereth and Clayton, those bastions of journalism, instead of discussing the cheating, its impact on the Ravens getting to the SB or what this would do to RoidRoids legacy, decided to fall all over each other agreeing that PEDs should be legal, especially if they help you heal.

Not an espn listener or viewer but I imagine they must have been outraged at Rodney's suspension.

PED'S should be legal for recovery purposes. Steroids are a great tool for certain purposes but have repercussions if used long term. If a doctor sanctions them use as part of recovery i have no problem with any player using them to get back to work as soon as possible. Now that wasn't the case here and isn't the case given that leagues haven't sanctioned that but I would be all for professional sports allowing players to use PED's in that context.

How cool would it be if Lewis was suspended in his last game ever?

He really should be. Yeah he tested positive. But if theres real audio footage of him where its obvious he's doping, then he should be suspended regardless.

Did you see the clip of Goodell hugging Lewis on the sidelines before the Colts playoff game? That is all you need to know. Aside from that, the sad truth is there simply is not enough time for the league to do anything about this before Sunday's game short of a Lewis confession, even if it wanted to.

I have a back injury. Someone pass me some of that deer antler stuff'.

From what I understand, that deer antler stuff can be much more useful than simply helping an ailing back. In fact, it supposedly can help with stiffness, and not necessarily in the back, but in the front.
