Well whoever wrote the article has a website so that must mean he knows what he's talking about. Only bad pick was Chad Jackson huh. I guess that means he considers KOC a good pick and Terrance Wheatley a successful 2nd rounder. These picks don't look "nearly flawless" to me.

2008
1. Jerod Mayo LB Tennessee
2. Terrence Wheatley DB Colorado
3. Shawn Crable LB Michigan
3. Kevin O'Connell QB San Diego State
4. Jonathan Wilhite DB Auburn
5. Matt Slater WR UCLA
6. Bo Ruud LB Nebraska

2007
1. Brandon Meriweather DB Miami (FL)
4. Kareem Brown DT Miami (FL)
5. Clint Oldenburg T Colorado State
6. Justin Rogers LB Southern Methodist
6. Mike Richardson DB Notre Dame
6. Justise Hairston RB Central Connecticut St.
6. Corey Hilliard T Oklahoma State
7. Oscar Lua LB USC
7. Mike Elgin G Iowa

2006
1. Laurence Maroney RB Minnesota
2. Chad Jackson WR Florida
3. Dave Thomas TE Texas
4. Garrett Mills TE Tulsa
4. Stephen Gostkowski K Memphis
5. Ryan O'Callaghan G California
6. Jeremy Mincey DE Florida
6. Dan Stevenson G Notre Dame
6. Le Kevin Smith DT Nebraska
7. Willie Andrews DB Baylor

They mention Tony Ugoh as an example of success but neglect to mention that he cost them a #1 in 2008. Not only has Ugoh's production not justified the cost, but how tough would the Colts be with Dustin Keller or Desean Jackson catching passes. In the cruelest of ironies, the Colts could have used that 2008 pick to take a talented CB out of Indiana...Tracy Porter.

As for the Pats, I probably wouldn't rank them 3rd. Not enough clear hits in the middle rounds. But these rankings are kind of silly anyway because they don't factor in the variety of ways you can use draft picks (trades, RFAs). Without that, you really can't compare teams like the Steelers, Pats and Jets, who all have very different draft strategies that have proven successful.

Biggest problem I have is he's ranking teams on drafts over the last five years. Isn't it still a little bit early to rate the 2009, or even 2008 draft? It's like all the sites that give a draft grade to a team 30 minutes after the draft is over. That's about the equivalent to giving a final grade on the first day of class.
