I've been seeing some chatter online about the possibility of getting Moss back next year...

Any thoughts about him coming back? Would you welcome him? How feasible is it?

Moss at Wide out, Herno, Gronk, Ballard, Lloyd/Wes :D

Love the 2007-2009 Randy Moss, not the catch the ball and fall down 2012 Randy Moss. No thanks.

How about this instead? DRAFT ONE IN THE 1st FOR ONCE! Not any in the 2nd. BB doesn't have good luck with them. Let McDaniels pick one. He picked Thomas and Decker, and they're pretty good.

I love Randy but no thank you. I would rather the Patriots go after a younger WR or draft one (and hopefully Daboll can help in that department).

The pats could have had him in 2011 and again before this season. They keep saying no.

It's not as if Randy just had a break out season and turned Bill's head enough that no suddenly will mean yes.

This is a good point. McD could help BB pick a receiver that could successful here.

Good speed but not the physical type of receiver this team needs. The Pats need a player in the Boldin or Roddy White mode that's big, better than average speed, runs good routes and isn't going to get bumped off the line of scrimmage by a more physical corner.

I love Randy, and would love to see him back (as a 5th WR), but DarrylSingley speaks the reality of the situation. That ship has sailed.

Ah yes, even though the Branch/Givens combo didn't recieve a lot of credit, Givens was a good fit for the team for the very reasons you state above.

That Keenan Allen kid from Cal is 6'3 but the bad thing is he's being projected to go much earlier in the draft.

So you'd take the guy with inferior production across the board...just because?

Sounds like you really thought this through.

I think it would be fun and I think it could be a decent cheap option to add some depth. He would have to be willing to take on a very small role and be a good boy (which I dont see as being a problem at this point). I dont think the small role is worth the potential headache or even just the added attention Moss would bring.

Big- yes, but the knock on Allen from what I've read is he lacks the "elite straight line speed". Not saying that's what we need, just that I'd like to see us target a WR prospect that is both physical and has good speed. Wouldn't we all want that though? :)

Plan A: Sign Wes and Julian
    Plan B: Sign Wes
    Plan C: Sign Julian

Get that sorted out and then

Plan D: upgrade from Branch at #3.

Is Randy an upgrade over Deion? Maybe. But it's probably the 4th best option for executing plan D:
    1- youngster in the draft
    2- young free agent
    3- trade for a burner
    4- sign a re-tread like Randy
5- give a practice squad guy a good look
    6- bring Deion back

so if you are scoring at home, option D4

Clearly, you prefer Moss over Lloyd because of something other than production, what do you have in mind?

    Randy Moss
    2012 regular season: 28 receptions, 434 yards, 3 TDs - Age 35
    2012 playoffs: 2 games. 5 receptions, 71 yards, 0 TDs

    Brandon Lloyd
    2012 regular season: 74 receptions, 911 yards, 4 TDs - Age 31
    2012 playoffs: 2 games, 12 receptions, 102 yards, 1 TD

Great post. Nice to see some good content to back up a correct opinion!

Though, in fairness, Brandon's YAC makes me want to YACK! And I better Randy's is better.

Do we really need a guy who will barely see the field and cannot play special teams? The 49ers receiving corp isn't any better than the Pats and he barely sees the field with them.

Yeah, but Lloyd sucks. Stats mean nothing when we are factoring in fans' perceptions. Lloyd was just as bad as Ochocinco and we have the numbers to DISPROVE IT! Stop using facts in an argument where stats are irrelevant.

People are over emphasizing YAC when trashing Lloyd. Some of the best WRs of all time had horrible to mediocre YACs. Marvin Harrison who is a pretty sure HOFer had just as bad YAC and usually caught the ball and dove to the ground or ran out of bounds immediately. His YAC numbers aren't much different than Lloyd's especially after his early years in the league.

Is it just me or are the speculation threads worse this year than ever before? I mean every off season has a few but this year you have Mallett for the #6 pick in the draft, Ed Reed, Dwayne Bowe, Randy Moss, Gronk for Revis, Pats really interested in Revis...........I mean the only one even remotely possible in my mind would be the Ed Reed one and I think that's fools gold at best where much like Jason Taylor at the end of the day he likes getting paid more than he likes Bill. Pats should go from about 7:1 to 1:3 in Vegas after all this gets done.

So the "knowledgeable fans" i.e. self-appointed draft gurus, want to discard a 90 catch 1,000 yard receiver, when the discussion is adding tveiving talent.

Y'all forget that the only missing piece in the Pats WR corps in the AFCCG was a deep verticle WR. Pats fans forget they have one under contract in Stallworth already, and the ONE THING Randy Moss is known for is exactly that, the deep verticle reception.

Both have a virtue that others don't. They both are affordable in this CAP constrained year. They both also have played in the system and know it.

Devote this Draft to the Defense.
