In an interview taped before the trade to NE, Moss did an interview for the Fox Sports show with Stephon Marbury that will be aired tomorrow (Friday) at 4:30 PM on FSN.

Here are some quotes from the show. My favorite:

Remember, that was before the trade was made.

The Bolts don't even need a coaching staff. They can just show up on sunday and do their lights out dance. They only need a special assistant to LdT to tell him that he is classy. I'm not sure he knows it.

One troubling quote "My seven years in Minnesota, I enjoyed that to the fullest. I was able to showcase my talents. I was able to go out there and show the people how fast I was and how high I could jump. Me being in Oakland ... "

That doesn't sound like a guy who will come here and fit into whatever the Pats want him to do.

I don't see what is wrong with a player wanting to go out there and show what he can to do. Players are performers, they like to amaze people, they want to be the best. It especially pertains to Moss because there was so much doubt about him coming out in the draft and he was able to show people that he could become one of the most dominating receivers to ever play the game.

I don't know what your talking about either. All he is saying is that he had more success in Minnesota than he did in Oakland. Don't worry, Moss is serious and Moss is for real. Remember to ask yourself, how badly did he want out of Oakland? Evidently, bad enough to tear his contract in half and play for 3-5 million dollars.

No no. The assistant is being brought on to let everyone else know he's classy.
"That's OK! LT can moan and whine and complain about another teams coach. LT is classy, remember?"

    "yeah"
    "got it."

Like it or not, Moss is a guy that's going to have tons of question marks. Whether we look at this quote or another, he's far from a sure deal...as pats fans, we can only hope for the best. I'm optimistic, but we'll see.

I heard that Normy and Fat Ted are thinking of giving more touches to Turner and using LdT less as a RB and more as a CB. They think he has an ELITE backpedal. With their secondary he could end up starting.

Re: Randy Moss to be on Fox Sports "Stars on Stars" with Stephon Marbury tomorrow nig

My point is that one of the concerns about Moss coming here is that he won't play the style of WR the Pats need. A guy who can run the routes and adjust to the audibles Brady calls and makes his own reads concerning coverage and blitzes. Now he made the comments before agreeing to come to NE but if he thinks that he's going to just go back to the type of ball he played in MIN then I think it will be a problem. The past few years the Pats have brought in WRs with talent that never got the system because they were unable or unwilling to make the sight reads and run the patterns that are needed in this offense. I'm sure BB talked to Moss about this before making a trade but if Moss' comments reflect what his attitude will be here in NE then I don't think he's long for the Pats. I can't see them desiging an offense that just lets him run down the field and jump for the ball on every play. I'm sure that they will have that play but again, Moss has to be willing to adjust from the play called in the huddle if the defense dictates it. Breaking off a route because of a blitz could mean the difference in whether Brady gets drilled or makes a great throw. I like the trade alot but I'm not going into this with blinders on, I learned my lesson with Gabriel last year when I thought he was the solution to all the WR questions.

Frame it. This post, in a nutshell, is how the Moss Experiment will show itself.

Don't want to play the I Told You So card re: Gabriel, but...

Let's hope that Moss can break from the Donald Hayes/Doug Gabriel legacy.

Starbury interviewing Moss = ego-stroking jock-speak at its selfish, team-less worst. As Jed Clampett would say, I think I'm gonna pass it.

You have made a couple of serious assumptions in the above analysis.

I think it would be a grave mistake on your part to assume that BB a) has brought in a WR anyone near as talented, productive and good as Randy Moss and b) won't adjust his gameplan anyway needed in order to create the matchups needed in order to maximize the effectiveness of someone as talented as Randy Moss. Having a gifted QB as versatile as Brady allows BB this option.

You can bet your last $ that if BB believes the best way to score points on offense is to "desigin an offense that just lets Moss run down the field and jump for the ball on every play" then that's exactly what we're going to see out on the field on plays called for Moss. I mean that exact gameplan for Moss has succeeded to the tune of 101 career TD's up to this point .... why change now

Re: Randy Moss to be on Fox Sports "Stars on Stars" with Stephon Marbury tomorrow nig

The thing is that I don't think the Pats need to change their entire offense to fit Moss. What they need to do is find out what plays and routes that Moss is best at doing, then call those plays at the appropriate times.

If you've got a supersonic jetfighter plane you don't try to fly it like it's a passenger airliner. But neither do you have to throw all the basic rules of piloting an aircraft out the window either. Is Moss better at pulling immelmans or barrel rolls, out routes or posts?

We'll see when we get him into passing camp. I think Brady is gonna have a lot of fun. And it helps that Moss admires Brady and will listen to him.

    Exactamundo.

The thing that is most appealing of all is that even a select few successful plays made to Moss will benefit the Pats in ways we haven't seen in the BB era. Namely, Brady connecting to Moss for a couple of long gainers will force the defense to cover up the backend of the field, opening up things elsewhere for serious exploitation by a QB who is arguably the best at doing such exploitation and for a RB who is explosive when given room to roam.

This is a situation that I've been dreaming of since Brady's been here.

I stated that they would have plays for Moss, a no brainer, but I don't see any "Randy Ratio" here in NE like he had in MIN. I still have concerns about blitz reads though.

Since January 21st, it hasn't been easy.

I liked the Stallworth and Welker signings, loved the Adalius Thomas signing.
