Oh sweet. Interestingly enough Welker is tied with Brown now. Most likely he is breaking it on Troy's night. It's eerie how similar their career numbers in NE are atm.

557 receptions 6366 11.4 average 31 TDs
557 receptions 6119 11.0 average 31 TDs

9 minute mark for my favorite Troy Brown play - dat punt return

For me, it's at 1:20 - - the OT bomb in Miami to end the game sudden death. Loved that moment, because the Pats were really putting it together then in 2003 and emerging from the hurt of the game one debacle to Buffalo. This was about the 6th or 7th game of that season. That first game was horrible and scarring and this moment was cathartic. Pure joy.

heh..remember before they put a man in space they sent up a bunch of chimps...poor bastids...must have been the monkey WTF moment of all time...

Chimp comes back to Earth. As he's being extracted from the Mercury capsule looking around wide eyed he shouts, "Get your hands off me you filthy human!"

worked at a Providence hot spot in the early 80's...anyway, the staff goes to a game at Schaeffer, all in a rented bus with four aluminum garbage cans filled with brew...46 guys (our GF's sanely declined the trip)...anyway...after the game I get back to the bus...there's 6 of us....40 guys got locked up...the head bar tender and bar manager both got locked up for running on the field in the 4th quarter and dropping "trou" at the 50 yard line....had to go back to Prov...get the bail money for everybody, go back up and get everybody out...heh...the bar opened at 9 that night, no bullshyte...

I miss those days at the old stadium. Thanx for the memories. The young bucks will never savor such rich cultural experiences. I remember once it rained so hard the concourse was flooded. Drunks (possibly your friends) were jumping off the cement sides belly flopping into a foot of water or less. Good times

Remember kids, it was not your NE Patriots of the 21st century. Back then the entire country outside NE ridiculed the Pats. Bad times.

Pats offense had no penalties in week 1. Pretty good on the road to not have any false starts.

Oops, forget that - credit goes to the replacement refs who fear Brady.

There's a story that I believe is true that, after one hard-drinking game, the cells at Schaeffer Stadium were full, so the security guys and the cops had a bunch of folks handcuffed to the chain link fence.

One of their buddies goes to his truck, gets a set of bolt cutters, and starts cutting the cuffs off and freeing everyone.

IIRC, it was the same game where they tore down the goal posts, and when carrying them away, hit a power line and injured a bunch of folks.

When I first got my season tickets, I used to sit in the south end zone, under the scorebaord. At one game in the late 70s, a guy sitting in next section wearing a bear costume (think Theo Epstein escaping Fenway) got tossed out of the game in the first quarter. Game was not sold out, so the guy goes to the ticket booth, buys another ticket and (within 15 minutes) returns to his original seat still wearing the bear costume.

Police now quickly escort him outside and handcuff him to the chain link fence. He was still there in costume when the game ended. Can't be sure, but I think he missed the Sunday night Mensa meeting that week.

With all the players LSU and Alabama have had drafted in the top 3 rounds over the past 3 years, they still are top 5 teams this years.

Mark Sanchez is the biggest tool alive

The Pats game at Tennessee had a 33.5 household rating in the Boston market. This translates to about 60% of all televisions in the area being tuned in to the game, being watched by about 800,000 viewers. It was the highest daytime season opener local ratings in the Patriots franchise history.

The game came close to being the highest rated opener regardless of time; the only ones with higher ratings were the 2011 MNF game at Miami (37.1 rating) and the 2009 MNF game against the Bills (35.1).

Sunday's game was the highest rated program across all demographics during the week of Sept. 3 to Sept. 9.

And yet some people continue to claim that this is a baseball town? How can anyone say that with a straight face, given these facts? The Patriots are by far the most popular team in Boston and New England.

how ****ty is the bills home stadium? heard it's a dump...anyone ever been?

I was there at least five years ago. It was the game where Moss just trounced them. It seemed like almost an exact replica of the old Fox (metal benches in the upper endzone where I sat, but everyone closer to the field), but in a completely remote area. We were with some friends and at half-time I went to find a ladies room with my friend's teenage daughter. The only one was located on the concourse around the 50 yard line, where they also had the smoking area. I didn't know if being crushed to death or dying from smoke inhalation was going to kill us first. Definitely a dump, and I am sure it is worse now.

LOL. Sounds like a good time.

My favorite Patriots moment, EVA!! My husband was away (in Vegas, the bum) and had bet on the Pats to win. I had 2 18-month olds so my Mom had come for the weekend to help me out. I was screaming so loud and jumping around the family room so much when Troy ran away with that bomb that my Mom announced, "You're scaring me." LOL. Remember Miami had missed 2, yes 2! makable FGs prior to that play, one at the end of regulation and one before that bomb, all because of the dirt on the field. What a game! What a finish!! Runner up was the blocked punt returned for a TD against Pittsburgh in the playoffs! Ha Ha!! Suckaaaaaas!! Thanks Troy, for some awesome memories!!

I was at that game, and it is one of the most vivid memories of any Pats game ever for me. It was a miserably hot day and by the time the second half started fans in the stadium were starting to drop like flies. Another beer? No way, get me a water ...

The Pats couldn't get anything going on the ground. I think Antowain Smith was hurt so Kevin Faulk was the lone running back; Miami continually stuffed him for no gain. The Pats also had a bunch of injuries to their starters on defense. This was back when the Dolphins still dominated the Pats in Miami. Yes the Pats had won the Squish The Fish game, but the Dolphins almost always beat the Pats down there. I don't know if they had ever won in Miami early in the season (i.e., in hot weather, September or October) at that point in time. Realistically it did not look good for the Pats.

The Dolphins shared the stadium with the baseball team so the two field goals came from the dirt of the infield. One was shanked and another low, blocked by Richard Seymour.

Miami wasn't getting huge chunks of yardage but all game long they seemed to get just enough from Ricky Williams running the ball and passes to their tight end (Randy McMichael?). Somehow the Pats kept Miami from pulling away and then Brady hit David Givens with about a 30 yard TD pass to tie it in the second half. After that there were the two missed field goals and then overtime.

Brady was sacked and nearly lost the ball; the Pats had to punt but they got it right back on an interception. First play of the drive and Brady hits Troy Brown in stride to his left. Where the catch was made was directly below where I was sitting, I had a great view of that play. Game over, back to the bus, crank up the AC and now I was more than ready to pop open a cold beer.

Am I the last person to climb aboard the Stevan Ridley bandwagon? Is there still room?

I still regret that Foxborough isn't a grass field any longer.
