There's a short thread in the Pub.

I feel for you, man, even though Dio and the Patriots are the only things we see eye to eye on :)

I dont visit "The Pub"... Plus Dio didn't drink. This is where my peeps are, even the ones like you who I disagree with.

Ronnie is in the afterlife giving the "Horns" to us all. Think of him when you see a rainbow inthe dark.

Yeah, I saw him 3 times, twice opening for the Mighty Maiden and once solo. As you know, he was even better on stage than on CD. He is my second favorite singer, second to Bruce.

I'll be seeing Dream Theater open for Maiden in about a month, after Portnoy tweeted this :

"Looks like Dime, Randy, Cliff and Bonzo just scored the ultimate singer....this is one of the saddest days in metal ever.... :("

I am hoping DT plays "The Spirit Carries On" in his honor at the show.

I was wondering when you'd pop up about this Diver. I started that thread in the pub, but I forgot that you're a one forum kinda guy.

RIP Dio, what a great metal artist. And by all accounts, a great guy as well. Every interview I ever heard, he was just a real nice guy who loved to rock. True shame.

Everyone crank some Dio today in tribute!

HD posts here almost all the time, this matters to him, if you don't like the post no need to read the post.

HD doesn't spam the PF with off topic posts.

Not a metal fan at all .. but RIP to Ronnie anyways ...

music and musicians are part of who we are.

They are part of personal and public expression ... both good things.

Musicians are part of the political forum ... free speech is music ... and music is free speech.

As a mod, you should move it.

Why? I take it as a compliment that someone feels a sense of community here and so should you.

Patsfans13 is turing into a fraud of a mod.

Rules are Rules..... This THREAD should not be in the PF.

IMHO this gives us an insight to HD. I never knew where his image and moniker came from 1 off topic post isn't spamming the forum IMO. Cut the guy some slack & give it a rest the thread stays.

Some levity and cross aisle mourning was needed...a respite, even for a day, is a good thing.

I'm not a heavy metal fan but I appreciate his work. I thought little of him(he's before my time) but respected his work. I'm almost to think that I get what he was about now. The guy was rock and roll through and through from the early days of late 50s right on up to today improving and changing his style keeping up with the trend and getting out in front of it in a way that few in music can claim. He was a rock god. One of the pantheon of rock gods.

One thing that I like about the guy: I can't find any instances where he was arrested, I'm not reading anything about him taking drugs, I'm seeing that he was actually someone who was a positive role model for musicians who was himself and not some fake act doing what everyone else was doing trying to get attention. He was the real deal and I'm sorry I took him for granted while he was alive.

That's one of the amazing things about Dio. As I mentioned in a previous post, every time I ever heard him in an intervihttp://corptrain.phoenix.edu/mentorship/index.htmew, he seemed like the nicest guy around. Not a prima donna, not a druggie weirdo, not a jerk. Just a nice guy who loved playing metal. He wasn't the typical heavy metal frontman. As you said he was a positive role model for musicians, that's a great way of putting it.

If you're interested, check out his album Holy Diver or the Black Sabbath album Heaven and Hell. He was also in a band called Rainbow, and the album Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow has some good stuff on it.

    Cups,

Talk about Hating....Dio was an icon in the genre of Heavy Metal music, a legend. He was also probably Portsmouth's greatest citizen. As for Politics, he and I see pretty much eye to eye.

DIO Slams President Bush, Ozzy | News @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

Legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio recently spoke to the U.K.'s Terrorizer magazine about George W. Bush and Ozzy Osbourne amongst many other things. On Bush, Dio said, "I've never supported him and certainly would never vote for him. I think he's a fool and a man without forethought. I have no confidence in him whatsoever. I think he's an idiot, I really do. He has done nothing to our country but drag it down to the ground."

and Thanks PF13 for showing RESPECT in keeping this thread up, as with some others in this forum who I regularly disagree with, you showed some class in defending the thread. I applaud you, and Ronnie James is giving you the "Horns" from the netherworld of heaven and hell where he is currently belting out face melting notes.
