Just a theory... Mangenius or Man-Gina? Our prodigal former coordinator has shown a Machiavellian streak. His pre-season contract feint stripped the Pats of Branch; I suspect he used inside knowledge to decipher Brady's signals (as BB taught him to do with Manning in the past) during the Jets' bye-week and used that to his advantage in the Pats 17-14 loss to the Jets. I also suspect Mangini, knowing he held the division tie-breaker, may have shared his information with Saban out of mutual advantage prior to Miami's 21-0 defeat of the Pats. The whole post-game "we bought the footage" mantra from Saban may have been a red-herring, like Mark McGwire putting Andro in his locker and pretending to be caught red-handed with his "supplement". I suspect the Miami players, after playing the Pats for the last time in the season, then let the cat out of the bag post-game out of respect for Brady and to spite the Jets once their "mutual interests" had ended.

I believe this back-stage struggle with the traitorous Man-Gina contributed to the joy and relief the Pats' coaching staff felt after the J-ville victory, and motivated Pete Mangurian to offer his post-game "Sorry, Mangini" comment.

I now suspect that this personal attack on Patriot Management with a NY twist in the PFT rumor mill from so-called "NFL sources" comes from the same culprits, the minions of Man-Gina. Man-Gina knows where to hit BB where it hurts just prior to the play-offs, how to distract him and the team, how to rain on the Patriot parade after a joyous win during the holidays.

It started as industrial espionage; it escalated to economic warfare; then to signals intelligence, now psy ops. It's war, and it aint pretty.

What was the comment and context?

Very intriguing speculation that does not contradict the known facts. I do believe that The Puffin is screwing with the Pats.

'As Patriots coaches rushed to grab an elevator to get to their winning locker room, tight ends coach Pete Mangurian had one brief observation: "Sorry, Mangini." New England's win prevented Eric Mangini, the New York Jets' head coach and New England's former defensive coordinator, from winning the AFC East.' http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/local/orl-jaguarsnotes2506dec25,0,1062637.story?track=rss

Mangini has quickly evolved into a smarmy, slimy, evil little toad. Under Herm the Jets were fun to laugh at, but under Man-gina they are much easier to genuinely hate.

    Nice!

I liked how the rookie S was briefed up on the sideline after Grant was injured, somehow it doesn't seem they were as orgainzed as the Pats in terms of preparing reserves...

I hope KC cleans their clock.

I can totally see this. The game plans for both defenses were so similar that I thought I was watching an NFLN replay.

What I find simultaneously amusing and astounding is the MA media finding it so hard to understand why BB would feel any animosity towards EM. Just yesterday Bob Ryan was on a show out here in Western MA ripping into BB about how reprehensible it is for him to hate the Jets organization (he said that he couldn't prove it but he know that BB did) and that he is acting like a pompous a s s with his behavious regarding EM.

Mind you, he never actually made any specific reference, he just talked about how arrogant BB is and how the loss of his dad is unfortunate because Steve would have been strong enough to stand up to BB and tell him that he is acting like a fool.

Now, without even getting into the issue of a guy ranting a raving about someone without even getting into any details of what was so dispicable (that is usually reserved for Ronnie Boy), wouldn't you be upset if a guy tried to steal coaches from your team and then went out of his way to ensure that you lost one of your best offensive players?

I really do hope that NE faces NY in two weeks because the Jets are just not that good. I am almost certain that they are not going to win 8 games next year.

I couldn't agree more. If you can believe the Phins are tanking the rest of the season after the Pats game, then I would be more then willing to believe that EM is up to no good and involved somehow.

Did the 49ers in their heyday have to deal with adversity like this? What about the Steelers and Cowgirls?? That what makes this Pats team so good. This is something the mainstream media doesn't remotely pick up on.

Yep. All blow-dried now. Even the radio guys and the bloggers. Ain't no more Walter Winchells. Our loss.

I like Suzy Kolber, though. She may not dig too deep, but she's cuter than Winchell ever was.

This is a really excellent thread, or the original post is, and it needs to be bumped. I didn't read it at first because I had no idea what "Psy Ops" was - I thought it might be a game platform, like the "PS3".

Take it one step further, could the NYJ's who share the same field as the Giants, be feeding the BB divorce stuff and feeding the flames of this husband in his divorce proceedings .. Magini has the look of a slimeball, but what goes around comes around.
