It's all over now, the history of the planet has many unpleasant things in it's past, the Romans fed human beings too lions and tigers, the Japanese used throw little Chinese baby's up in the air and catch them on their Bayonets, today grown men sodomize little boys they are allowed to have their own little club (NAMBLA) Certain parts of Africa and Asia to this day still have Slavery.

Eric Holder seems to be doing pretty well these days, as the old cigarette ad used to go "We've Come A Long Way Baby"

How shocking, harry thinks we should disregard part of our history in which whites treated blacks as property.

It continues today, it's called Debt. When you owe... you are forced to work and your rewards of that labor go to someone else.

OT: Debt is a valuable tool when used properly. The rewards of the debtor's labor go to both the debtor and the creditor, as they should.

I agree... but we should educate what Debt really is for.

For Example: It is ok to Borrow money to start a business, which is an asset and can earn you more money in the future.

It is not ok to borrow money for a new TV, which is not an Asset.

When "Capital" was invented, which basically starts with the first banks. Money was only lent to things that the bank felt would make money and be able to repay the loan without issue.

Now we lend, just to enslave someone in repayment for the rest of their lives.

Debt today is a completely different beast.

Will she speak of The Blacks in Africa who SOLD their own people to the Slave Trader, somehow that always goes unmentioned.

Slavery Like The Holacaust should never be forgotten, but those thing are now in the past, we have changed (I hope)

Here's an interesting take on Slavery many I bet have not considered. Do you feel Slavery was man's want to dominate another? Or was it simply a Form of Energy.

From the time of Pharaohs, to the Plantations, people in power needed energy to accomplish the things they needed done. To building pyramids to harvesting cotton. Slavery was nothing but cheap energy.

Oil probably has more to do with the ending of Slavery than anything else.

1 Gallon of Oil can produce the amount of work 100 men can do in 1 hour.

If you look at Slavery in all manner through the lens of a form of energy, people will always seek out the cheapest form of energy, used to produce their goods and services to make a profit.

It's not racist thing, it's an economic thing.

OT: Nobody is being enslaved. given your libertarian bent, you should realize that.

Ability to repay the loan is the most important thing, regardless of the loan's purpose. Nothing wrong with putting the new plasma on a credit card, as long as you can afford it.

No, it doesn't. You'd know that if you ever read about the subjects you supposedly post about.

But, hey, anything to blame something on blacks, right, harry?

It's all of the above. (Slavery in America clearly was both economics and race, for example.)

Per Capita is what would be the important statistic.

There are more Children today than there were Humans 1000 years ago... Doesn't mean Children are taking over the world :)

An even greater amount of human suffering is the important point.

To those who are suffering in slavery (many of them children) it is probably not too important what they represent per capita. I am not sure that this represents a similar or lower level on a per capita basis, as the price of a slave has plummeted:

Life has become very cheap for the poor... for example, the "Collateral Damage" in war that we have just come to accept.
