    Re: Prisco ranks Oline 3rd

I say that is wrong because Pete Prisco is a moron.

Dallas at one? Yes, names are good, Pete, but production matters most. The Cowboys were ranked tenth in sacks allowed, seventeenth in rushing yards per game and their center can't snap the damn ball in the shotgun. How are they number one?

The Dallas o-line did just as poorly in the playoffs against NYG. The fact that Romo has more mobility discredits them even more.

    Re: Prisco ranks Oline 3rd

So then where would you rank us? At No. 1?

I'm not sure how you can go 18-1, score the most points in NFL History and have no offseason turnover and not be ranked 1 - But hey, I'm just a homer.

For Indy, he doesn't even know who is starting at right guard and he ranks them at #4. Seems a bit high when 1/5 of your line is missing.

The fact that the Indy o-line never gets called for offensive holding might have a bearing on their success, wouldn't you say?

    Re: Prisco ranks Oline 3rd

I haven't paid enough attention to every offensive line in the league, but I don't think we have the best one. I don't know who has the best line and I'm not going to pretend like I know either the assignments or the most basic of fundamentals, but our line didn't seem to have enough consistency in the running game to be considered the best overall line in the league. Maybe we were and I'm just overvaluing the abilities of the other teams in the league. I don't know.

I have, however, watched enough of the Cowboys to know that our line is better than theirs.

I'd argue that we have the best Run defense in the league when Wilfork is in, and he's always in when the run is on.

He's one of, if not the best in the league.

It is funny how he writes about his number three line.

If Prisco thinks the LT needs to play better, right guard is a concern, and neither one of them are the weakest link, how does he justify this as his number three line?

Seems silly (or begrudgingly admitted) to me.

He's ranking the offensive lines, not the team.

And losing Asante, Donte, Randall Gay and Geno is turnover.

So he should rank our line lower?

I'm with ya Bro. But like you said, ranking O Lines. There was no turn over on the line that broke all the records.

True, but in many ways, I think Brady makes our O-line a whole lot better than it really is. I think Peyton does the same with his.

    Re: Prisco ranks Oline 3rd

Man, I'm 100% with you there, but I don't think you can discount the line based on the fact that you have a HoF QB getting the snaps.

I would rank them #1 based on last years performance (Lets not talk Super Bowl, we all know that was an anomaly and out of character for that group - They got beat like dogs and there is no real excuse other than it was a bad game, poor timing for them to have a bad game, but it is what it is).

They allowed Tommy so much time that even a average QB would have had great no.'s - but like you said, put Tommy back there and the no.'s are lights out.

I think Bill feels the same based on his draft picks and they way he goes about picking and signing for need. Not very many (if any) O-Line guys were brought on this off season.

No. It was more an observation to point out how the ranking and the description don't really mesh. If I showed you only his description, where would you think that line would be ranked?

    No Jersey Selected

The link at RT is weaker now than it was last week. I doubt that old, slow and fat Oliver Ross is the answer. That answer has a better chance of being provided by O'C or Britt.

If I were the FO, I would have called Shane Olivea's agent as soon as I heard about Nick the Snitch. Olivea is someone I wanted signed as insurance against Neal's ability to return to full strength; with his less-than-ideal height and wingspan for RT, Olivea could be a better fit at RG going forward. If Neal is - or will soon be - good to go, then I will be far less concerned with the OL than I am right now.

As far as the guy who "needs to play better" is concerned, Matt Light, at this stage of his career, is who he is: an above-average starting LT on a SB contender, and nothing more, or less. The only way that he's at the Pro Bowl is if he buys a ticket, but because of the retirement of Tarik Glenn and the near-retirement play of Jon Ogden, Light gets the nod by near-default. I consider Jason Peters, Joe Thomas, Levi Jones, Khalif Barnes, Michael Roos and Marcus McNeill all at or above Light's level. If the FO could ever find another Bruce Armstrong, then Light would make a legitimate Pro-Bowl-caliber LG or RT.

    #24 Jersey

    Re: Prisco ranks Oline 3rd

I am not a big fan of that line of thinking. Obviously to some degree a great player will make the players around him look better but it is not some end all be all....You still have to be that good or you will be exposed.

Give Tom Brady the 5 best College Linemen through them out in an NFL game and Tom might make them look better but they will still get dominated.
