Really? I thought the drop was because the Democrats didn't get their filibuster proof 60 seats, which the Market took as the Republicans can still #@$% up the economy, therefore it dropped...

While being noticeably absent for the past two weeks, our favorite drive by moderator comes up with an idiotic thread.. time to move on, nothing to see here.

Yeah, the market's falling. The righties tried to prop it up to help McCain, but now they're returning to reality. At any rate, it's still Bush's economy, not Obama's.

Oh, I think he'll do just fine with the economy. Regardless of who won, the economy will struggle for a year or two, but will then turn around.

Only an idiot could think a President-elect could do or cause anything to happen while there is still someone else sitting in the oval office continuing to do nothing while the economy gets worse.

FTW must mean something else by his thread. I wonder what it is?

GM is going down right now and needs to be bailed out ASAP.

    1-Bailed out financial institutions.
    2-Bailed out insurance company.
3-Bailed out auto companies is in progress.
4-Bailed out health care and utility companies next?

we are going down faster than we thought.

You are an absolute moron if you think that the 500 point drop in the market the day after the election has nothing to do with the election.

    No YOU are the moron.

Anyone worth his salt in MY profession knows that the rumor of the win helped on an otherwise non-financial news day on Tuesday. The ADP unemployment reports of 157,000 more UE's in October fueled yesterday and Cisco's bad numbers effected today.

The economy is what it is now.

Stick to commenting on something you understand, you're drowning.

Obviously it's not Obama's fault but it is a clear commentary that they don't think The Chosen One will be able to click his fingers and fix everything as I think a lot of Obama voters mistakenly think. Regarding bad numbers, really bad numbers have already been factored in so alhough schmessy won't care what I think, I don't buy that argument because the numbers aren't worse than expected in general. Why are we going down ? We're in a trading range and the Monday close was up 20% from the low of the past week or two. We won't dip below that low of 8200 or so unless the numbers are even worse than expected but we won't go on a big rally until the numbers actually improve.

By this time next year or the year after Obama will look like a genius because Obama will be getting in at or near the bottom. Competent or not he's in great shape to look good.

Actually, I DO care what you think. You, RW, SB42 and a few others offer up cogent arguments to back up your statements.

What FTW and this kid NEPatriot are doing is nothing more than grafitti on bathroom stalls.

"Causes" it? How do you know Obama's election caused it? How do you know if there wouldn't have been a 700 point drop if McCain was elected? Wasn't there a big rally the day before, and therefore wasn't there a good chance of a sell off the next day?

And hey, purposefully using his middle name alone in your header is bigoted and racist.

Hey kid, markets go up and down every day. We had a similar bozo here named Quigon last year who hilariously started a thread in September 2007 that trumpeted ONE MONTH'S good consumer confidence measurement.

Like I would tell FTW, don't swim in the deep end if you don't know how to swim.

That's sound advice to you, kid, coming from someone in the business for over 17 years.

    Are you serious?????

News causes the stock market to move everyday, and you are seriously trying to say that the news of Obama's election din't cause the stock market to fall?

What do you want me to call him?

Barry Soerto- Muslim citizen of Indonesia
    Barry Obama- Hawaii schoolboy
    Barack Hussein Obama- Kenyan citizen

Only God (or in his case Allah) knows what his real name is, no one has every seen a marraige license for his parents, a valid birth certificate, hell one Grandmother said she was in the delivery room IN KENYA when he was born, he and his "sister" can not agree on which hospital in Hawaii he was alledgedly born in. SO yes, I'm going to give him all the respect that GWB has seen for the last 8 years.

The conditions are set for a healthy recovery. In all honesty, I hope no one tries to pass policies that screw that up. All that needs to be done now, is ride out the low.

There's way too many people in this country living and dying with the stock market every day. If you're at or near retirement and have all your money in stocks then I can see it. Otherwise just relax, get some stocks or funds at a good price and get on with your life.

That said, it's not Obama's fault but the market clearly isn't thrilled that he can get the economy turned around any time soon.

Anyone who knows ANYTHING about the stock market understands the basic adage "Buy on the rumor, sell on the news".

Educate yourself before trying to comment on something you know nothing about.

Try not to be a Palin.

It's only 2 months or so until inauguration. They're going to want to get some stocks at a low (maybe not THE low) point real soon if they think Obama can turn things around any time soon. We're going to be digging around the 7800-9000 range for quite a while, I think.
