How do you surrender a license YOU SHOULDN'T LEGALLY HAVE for 45 days? Shouldn't it be surrendered PERMANENTLY?!?

President’s illegal uncle surrenders license for 45 days

Onyango Obama — the president’s illegal alien half uncle — has admitted to sufficient facts today in his drunken driving bust and his case is being continued without a finding for one year —but he must surrender his license.

Obama, 67, was ordered to turn over his license for 45 days, effective today, a Framingham District Court judge ruled. He left court without speaking to the press.

Obama had been waging an aggressive legal battle against Framingham cops ever since he was pulled over Aug. 24 for driving erratically and blowing 0.14 on a Breathalyzer, police reported. But his attorney today said it was time to move on.

OMFG what? He obtained a drivers license ILLEGALLY. He's been working ILLEGALLY. He's been here for 20 years! What a joke, "failure to renew his paperwork"? Give me a break.

If he's illegal, how is he working, and how can he just go back to work at this point? Aren't laws being broken here? It's illegal to hire an illegal afterall.

RW - I am not sure how someone, who is here illegally can get a driver's license or a job (one that is documented anyway, as a job at Conti Liquors I assume would be). I mean the newspaper just documented that an undocumented worker is working at Conti Liquors, will there be a fine for the hire?

This issue, more than most others, strikes home at me very closely. My time in Jakarta required my family, once a year, to go downtown to the Government Immigration office (which could take, in world famous Jakarta traffic, anywhere from 2-6 hours), wait in line, receive our forms and get our fingerprints taken, then immediately leave the country for 24 hours while our Resident Visa (and my dad's work permit) was renewed - we would leave to Singapore, go the Indonesian embassy there to finish the process and come back.

It was a huge pain in the butt (esp the Immigration office visit, as that was where people from all over the country were applying for Jakarta Resident Permits, and was obviously crowded, hot and not overly efficient), but it was also the law of the country - which they happily enforced.

My question is, how can a country many, many, many times more advanced than Indonesia (the US) not be as good at enforcing the immigration laws on their (our) books?

    I think I know why.....

The inmates are running the asylum, pure and simple. Too many liberals gain too much politically by having as many illegals as possible and will fight tooth and nail against getting these illegals the hell out of our country.

To be fair Wolf, lots and lots of republicans turn a blind eye to illegals cuz they benefit their buddies who like cheap (subsidized by the taxpayer) labor. Remember, it was the leader of the republican party at the time (then president George Bush), along side the party's future nominee (John McLame), who pushed and pimped Amnesty Redux on the country. Redux because the original Amnesty, sold as a "one-time" deal, was passed 20 years prior by another republican. A guy named Ronald Reagan. So while I think the "left" favors illegals more so than the "right", the blame for the problem is shared by both sides.

Another thing to consider is how each party is fighting for the latino vote. It's kinda sad to be honest. How parties opt to play into the interests of specific people in order to secure their vote, instead of playing to the interests of whats best for the country as a whole, and all of the people who legally live inside it. :(

It seems like he would have to have broken multiple laws just to get the paper work to allow him a license and SSN and so forth. So, why are there no charges for that?

I bet you won't see many of our liberal members commenting on this because there really isn't anything they can counter. All RW's points are valid based upon our laws.

Jakarta must have been some experience Drew. Indonesia as well. Seeing places across the world is truly awesome.
