Well, started messing around with my 2008 predictions last night. So, just for the heck of it, I'll throw 'em out there to hear your thoughts and to give my detractors their daily grist for the mill! LOL!

I like our boys @ 12-4 this season, maybe even 11-5. Good enough to win the East again.

There are a couple of games I picked as wins (vs. Steelers, @ Dolphins, @ Bills) that I think we could lose.

I also think we are 50-50 to beat the Broncos, but they always play us tough, so I put it down as a loss.

Seriously, I am most interested in your predictions, thoughts, prognastications, and comments, if you're so inclined.

Have a great day!

I would go with 13-3, or 14-2

So basically, you're giving the Pats an "L" when they play a halfway decent team...except for the 'Hawks? I think that's a bit unfair.

16-0.

OK, fine, probably somewhere between 14-2 and 16-0, that's a little more realistic :D

16-0

oh by the way, I've said it before...THIS TEAM IS NOT GOING TO LOSE THE THE CHARGERS!

The top 3 AFC teams amongst each other last year...

Pats: 3-0
Chargers: 2-2
Colts: 0-3

Care to elaborate on why you having us losing to both teams this year?

Also a Monday night home loss against a mediocre team seems strange. Though I'm assuming you think will have the post-Chargers came banged up hangover, which is fair.

14-2

I predict they lose in another epic shootout at Indy & then suffer the hangover effects the following week against a young, up & coming Bills team.

I'd say 13-3 with a 14-2 season as an outside possibility. I'm just not one of those guys who goes through the schedule and puts Ls and Ws next to individual games so I can't give you that, but I don't think the Pats have a tough schedule other than the travel part of it and are still the best team in the NFL.

Besides, most of the better teams we face have a lot of issues/question marks. The Chargers have to worry about the health of Gates, Merriman, and even Rivers. The Colts have to worry about the health of Manning and whether Harrison, Sanders, and Freeney can rebound from their injuries/surgeries. The Seahawks have real questions at WR and a lame duck coach. The Jets have a lot of new parts and a lot of them are risks.

19-0

We beat the Chargers in the AFC Championship at Foxboro and in a rematch of last year's SuperBowl, beat the Giants to win Super Bowl 43.

Unfinished Business.

19-0 - The Redeem Team.

The RB corps depth is like nothing we've ever seen here - - no one is even talking about Sammy Morris, and I think he was the missing element in SB42.

.....and it will be Crable who emerges as the Monster, pairing up with AD to give this D an aggressiveness/speed on the outside we haven't seen since McGinest/Slade.

The only two wildcards are the Secondary (I'll put my money on Dom Capers weaving his magic there ) and the OL.

Although I'd love to see that happen for revenge and all, it would be much sweeter if the Giants don't make the playoffs (and we win it all).

13-3 to 15-1. The only game I will predict a W for is a total and complete ass kicking of the Broncos. Unrelenting and merciless.

I have to agree with others here. NE plays 4 good teams all year: Indy, SD, Pitt, and Seattle and you have them losing three of those games.

Unless Brady gets hurt I cannot understand any scenario which has NE lose more than 4 games this year, and even that seems like a stretch. Even if they lose to both SD and Indy (the only elite teams on their schedule) they would need to lose 2 games against the rest. That has got to be the worst-case (non-injury to Brady) scenario.

As for Denver, they look to be pretty bad and the game is at home. I'm not as concerned as years past.

14-2 seems likely, with a +/- of two wins.

Yeah, like the Giants are going back to the Superbowl. They might not even make the playoffs.

Also, the original poster has us losing to Seattle? No way can I see that happening.

That really is something I felt like there wasn't enough analysis of. When Morris went down against the Cowboys, that's when it felt like the offense lost some punch. They had the great game against the Bills, who were pathetic last season, and then the going got tougher, because the Pats couldn't platoon Maroney and Morris to wear down the opposing defensive line. I've often thought that if Morris stayed healthy, we would have beaten the Giants handily, because slowing down their rush would have been much easier with him in the backfield.

You're in denial over the Giants bro.

Says you. That was a massive fluke of a run they put up last year. Only in the NFL, where one game can make a guys reputation, can you throw away the game 3 times in the last drive like Eli did, and have the defense very politely hand it back and say "Try again, son", and see your stock rise. I see a team that played way above its head in the back 7 on defense and at the quarterback position, and lost 2 of the better players on its roster. They play in a very tough division that they won't win (the Cowboys are much better), and will be fighting for a wildcard spot with Philly, Washington, Tampa and Minnesota.

I'm not sure your logic, or what you feel has happened to the Pats that makes them 4 or maybe 5 games worse.
I'm not sure what has deteriorated in the team that would turn 3-0 vs SG and Indy into 0-2? Not sure why from last year to this year we have sunk so low we lose to a weak Bronco team, at home, and an average team from the weak conference.
I'm not saying its 19-0, lock it up, but factoring in improvement or digression from last year, its hard for me to this teams regular season win total will be only 68-75% of what it was. Do you believe this team is only 75% of what last years was, and maybe even less?

What?

That Dallas game where Morris went out started a five game stretch where the offense averaged 41.6 points per game.

Morris was lost for the season before the offense peaked. His absence hurt, but please, can we stop overvaluing Sammy Morris on this board?
