Predict the Score Contest RESULTS, Week 1 NE @ NYJ

I'd like to thank everyone for welcoming the Predict the Score contest back this year. 145 entries this week, the most ever! And lest you think the numbers were swelled by the green horde, only 7 of those were Jets fans (including one still in the closet).

I think I figured out why so many participated: over the weekend the mods gave top priority to ensuring high visibility for the contest. A sticky would have been good, but even better was the way they cleaned up the useless clutter on the front page. Look at this Sunday morning screen capture:



Before this I thought the merging of threads was going a bit overboard, but now I like it, thanks!

But back to the real purpose of this post... to recognize those who foresaw the game with more clarity than everyone else. cblesz, Crazyeechrispats1 and scout missed by just a field goal and finished tied for third. Mike the Brit missed by just a safety to finish second. But better than everyone, makoute missed the exact score by just one little Matt-Cassell-as-holder extra point.

Blind squirrel gets to within two points of nut! That's what comes of letting your heart rule your head.

It reminds me that four days ago the Patriots played a great game of football and exceeded (almost) everybody's expectations.

I love the fact that a prediction of an 85-13 Patriots win pretty much did as well as a prediction of a 31-10 Jets win.

I stated "Our defensive front seven will totally dominate the line of scrimmage, Pennington might not finish the game"
