After the influx of creative posting immediately after games, I've decided to give a little direction to those lacking the intestinal fortitude to suck it up.

    1. Think before you post something.
    2. Think for atleast 1 minute before you press reply.
    3. Realise you make more of an arse of yourself for future commentary when you post irrational comments.
    4. Don't bring your personal baggage and personal recommendations to the table. The front office is more than aware of what needs to be done.
    5. Don't ever blame the loss on one player. The team is a sum of all parts.

    6. SUPPORT THE PATRIOTS THROUGH THICK AND THIN. The amount of dribble some people write makes me think they aren't even supporters, just bandwagoners. If a loss pains you that much and you dislike the players that much, go support the Jets.

    And finally
    7. For every loss there have been 2-3 wins over a long period of time. The Patriots have given us sustained success since 2001. Sport is cyclical, that is the nature of the beast. Be thankful of the past and embrace the humps when they happen. Anything less and you're simply a Chargers fan.

    Go Pats.

While I agree with everything you said, it seems like no matter how much we win, every time we lose there will always be the fans that can't handle it. There is always a large number of fair weather fans that will always come along with any sport and it is just a fact of life other fans need to get used to. People selling off their season tickets when Brady got hurt, counting down until next season etc. It sucks, and it is annoying, but as long as there are fans and sports, it will never change.

Nothing wrong with that at all jcrack.

Sure I'm pissed about the turnovers and very average 2nd half, but it happens. I'm not going to go out and say the Patriots organisation needs an overhaul, our defense is useless, player X should never play again or your opinion is stupid so you're stupid.

Bandwagoners annoy the **** out of me.

I rarely quote entire posts but yours deserves it.
The in game thread Cassandras are one thing but why pollute the Forum via thread craping because you're pissed the Pats lost? Sure today several players played horribly. Cassel had a poor game, Matt Light, Moss, Slater, the DBs, the Offensive Coordinator, whomever. Discussions of poor plays are fine, but subsume them in a generic thread vs the rush to post your name up there in lights in some inane thread to fullfill some agenda.

WOW a sane, well thought out post.

Nicely said ausbacker. Perhaps you could host posting classes for some of the challenged around here ;)

Amen. The reactions on the board after a win (trade brady) and a loss(bench cassel, lose all games for a better draft pick..) is so hyperbole everytime.

    Great post.

    If I can add one:

    8. Friggin READ the other threads before you make another one saying the same exact thing. We don't need 5+ "That was terrible" "How disappointing" "Season's over", etc. threads in addition to the game thread where there's enough panic.

Well said, ausbacker. Now reading the irrational and stupid "Moss sucks/has no heart/is an A-Rod" makes things even worse.

I can get why PatJew left. This place is going downhill.

In general I agree, but I think people could stand to observe point 1 more than just after a game.

I will disagree with point 6, because I think it's vague and doesn't hold for all circumstances. People will (and have) call me a bandwagoner (whatever that means), but I would have a hard time supporting the Patriots if they fired BB and hired Mangini, or Al Davis, or they were sold to Bud Selig. I like this team because of the character of its coaches, owner management and players. Replace the everything but the uniforms with the Chargers and I'd probably feel differently about them.

    That said, good OP.

Why have PatsFans.com if people cant post their feelings? Not everybody is going to always act rationally, a lot of people come in here to vent.

Well said ausbacker. Today's loss is tough because its the little missteps that blew the game from Moss unable to hold the ball to badly thrown balls. However on the upside the Rats lost which still gives us hope to make it into the playoffs. Ultimately the best thing for the team to do is to learn from the mistakes and work hard for next week's game against the Seahawks.

Just venting decreases the signal to noise ratio. It's just not interesting or worth reading, really. Now if there were a sub-forum for it ....

Because if any people are like me, I am interested in reading well thought out compelling arguments from people with genuine concerns or viewpoints, not personal attacks on players or coaching staff in sometimes kindergarten level english.

If people take a moment to read the already existing threads, contribute to them, not start a new one.

Common sense from the other side of the world. Great post, ausbacker.

I would throw a rule out there about posters offering facts to support opinions, facts being actual documented game occurrences, rules or football theory, but that might overcomplicate things. Typically, most of the genuinely illogical arguments on this board can be eliminated by requiring a factual basis, but that requires an understanding of the definitions of fact and opinion and an ability to distinguish between the two.

Overall, good, constructive thoughts. They likely won't stop the "we stink"/"we are done" rants, but one can always hope.

Aye. For some reason people on here expect the Pats to go 16-0 every year. These are usually the people that are throwing player after player under the bus for the loss without actually touching on the stuff that actually DID cause the loss (i.e. - lack of pressure and fumbles). They go into a manic depression with every loss because they somehow think that the New England Patriots are gods... above such bad games as they have displayed this year. These people that expect perfection (and this isn't meant to be an insult to anyone) game after game typically are people that have not been following the team for that long. You can tell. See, I remember the days of Drew Bledsoe, Sam Gash, and Ben Coates. I remember Pats teams with a lot of talent but were mistake prone game in and game out and were NEVER perfect. The years of Brady have spoiled most of us but for me, these same years have made me appreciate the product we put out on the field in the past and the product we put out there today.

Just watch the games guys. Enjoy them. If you're a real Pat fan you'll find a way to sit back and smile through the wins and cry through the losses but, through it all, you'll still find yourself smiling in the end because the bottom line is that you love this team. Sleep it off everyone and get ready for next week. We have a playoff race that we need to catch up to.

    I have better ideas:

1 - don't start threads complaining about other threads
2 - if you see a worthless post, don't feel compelled to add another worthless post to that thread.....it doesn't make you seem any smarter
3 - don't try to give advice about what people should or should not post
