Hernandez has all the tools to be a dominating player. Dominating.
Unfortunately this guy is invisible far too often.
There are too many games where this supremely talented player is a non-factor.
That big money contract may have been a big mistake.

re: Poster child for "Did not compete" = Aaron Hernandez

You're kidding right?...Hernandez is also double covered most of the time along with Welker...you add Gronk to the mix...Hernandez is a completely different target. I'm excited as to what the Patriots game plan is going to be come playoff time with both Gronk and Hernandez in the lineup...something we and the rest of the league have yet to see

re: Poster child for "Did not compete" = Aaron Hernandez

So what you're saying (without meaning to of course) is Hernandez needs Gronk in the line-up in order to be productive. There's a lot of truth to that and that's not good. Without Gronk in the line-up they need Hernandez to elevate his game.
Somehow Wes Welker continues to be very productive yet Hernandez disappears all too often and this is because "Hernandez is a completely different target"??? Bull%#@&!!!!!
Aaron Hernandez does not compete, i.e. bring the intensity and tenacity game in and game out the way Wes Welker does.
    Yesterday was a classic example.

No the sky is not falling but when the QB of the team is literally screaming at his offense on the sidelines perhaps we should take a look at that offense and comment on who isn't showing up to play.
Sorry if that offends your pinkhat sensitivity.

I love A-Hern, but I will say this. He has way too many drops and makes more dopey mental errors than a guy with his talent should. He's young, though, so I'm not all that worried.

No need to be due, skip. AH is playing on a bad wheel and be doubled. C'mon now.

Hernandez had 92 yards and a TD against the 49ers last week. The week before he had 58 yards and 2 TD's. Selective memory?

All the homerism in the world won't change the fact that Hernandez has not been playing well. He is not getting separation, has too many bad drops, and there is little YAC. Reiss reported that he has a high ankle sprain and the Pats debated whether to play him at all, so his performance is presumably injury-related. After all the TE signings, they still don't have sufficient depth at the position as Shiancoe and Fells have contributed like 4 catches on the season, so they play an injured Hernandez. Same situation on the other side of the ball where they lack CB depth so tried to play Talib who needed a wheelchair to move. Unfortunately, we get no excuse cards for playing poorly due to injuries.

re: Poster child for "Did not compete" = Aaron Hernandez

Stop with the excuses. Hernandez had ONE catch yesterday. ONE!

    W. Welker 10 catch - 12 targets
    B. Lloyd 6 catch - 12 target
    M. Hoomanawanui 2 catch - 2 target
    D. Woodhead 2 catch - 5 target
    A. Hernandez 1 catch - 5 target
    D. Branch 2 catch - 3 target
    D. Fells 1 catch - 1 target
    S. Ridley 0 catch - 1 target

    UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!
What's bizarre is why McDaniels kept wanting to throw the ball in the second half when they had the lead and needed to burn clock. Brady was getting killed because they basically had a 2 man passing attack all day.

re: Poster child for "Did not compete" = Aaron Hernandez

I'm not sure that Hernandez was the problem yesterday, offensively. The biggest issue was the offensive line that just didn't consistently get the job done, except for a stretch of three scoring drives to take the lead. Before and after that, Brady was under pressure on almost every passing down.

Also, the Jags did a good job on taking Hernandez out of his routes by lining up a pass rusher over him and bringing a linebacker in. 5 targets, 1 catch, 1 false start. Not a good day.

But I credit the Jags with targeting him as the guy they were going to take away. Again, Brady did enough with Welker, Lloyd and Branch to get the win.

Simple titles work best for discussion/debate "hernandez concerns" or "hernandez issues". Just a word of advice, take it or leave it...

Geesh, what happened? You find out Hernandez got you coal for your Secret Santa Xmas stocking?

Next week you'll be whining about someone else.

Have a great holiday and spread some more of that holiday cheer.

29 catches for 296 yards in five games is an average of almost six receptions for 61 ypg - excellent production out of a tight end. Add the three additional receptions by Fells and Oh-Oh and the group had a decent day against the Jaguars.

re: Poster child for "Did not compete" = Aaron Hernandez

I agree with this. It seems, based on how they use him on offense that they don't trust his hands on routes beyond 5-10 yards which is understandable b/c he drops a lot of passes. His strength is his athleticism, especially the ability to run with the ball and evade would-be tacklers but his hands are marginal at best. Having said that, I agree that he's still young and coming into his own. I don't believe he's anywhere near his full potential.

Actually, I'd say Gronk is the poster child. He was invisible yesterday.

I think one big issue is that he, like most of the team, is banged up. At the same time, I have always felt Gronk was the #1 TE. AH might be 1B but he is no Gronk. I am looking forward to seeing Gronk and AH together in the playoffs.

re: Poster child for "Did not compete" = Aaron Hernandez

Thanks for making my point. Players who don't show up to play every game in a great passing offense and with a HOF QB have games with 2 rec for 36 yds and 1 rec for 13. Unacceptable level of production from a player who's game is that of a pass catcher and not a blocking TE.
