Top 4, assuming Patriots win out:

    1. Colts
    2-4:
If Bengals lose to KC or JETS, the Patriots are ahead, otherwise Bengals are.

Also, unless the Chargers lose BOTH remaining games, they keep #2. Otherwise, they drop. Bengals/Patriots move up to claim it. Thus, the Patriots still have a shot for #2.

    5-6:
Miami, Pittsburgh, Denver, or Ravens. Titans are also possible if they beat the Chargers and Seattle.

Both Houston and Jacksonville can still get wildcard spots as well.

I just don't want to play SD in SD. Any scenario that avoids that is okay with me.

Those are the last remaining teams we play, and this assumes the Patriots win out.

Re: Wk 15 AFC Playoff Picture

Okay, that's only partially correct. Bengals no longer have a shot at the #2 seed. And if the Patriots and Bengals both win out, it will come down to strength of victory which no one knows yet. Also, Texans, Jets, and Jaguars are still alive.

The Steelers have a legit shot at the playoffs now that I think about it. Baltimore will probably get the 5 seed and there arent' any other teams that have a firm grip on 6 right now. Denver has to play @ Philly next week, that is likely a loss.

Re: Wk 15 AFC Playoff Picture

Better to end this next week @ Foxborough.

They need Wilfork back next week! Jags are a running machine.

Cannot have that rookie, Brace play against the Jags.

Patriots should keep the "moving DL" for next week. That confused the Bills and probably the Jags.

If Patriots win 2 more games, they are the 3rd seed (I think).

Re: Wk 15 AFC Playoff Picture

Incorrect. If the Chargers lose both and the Bengals win both, they're #2 according to http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/playoffscenario. Thanks about the Jets.

Regarding the Patriots guaranteed #3 if they win out, if the Bengals win out, they're tied, and the Playoff Scenario Generator seems to give them the #3 spot in that case.

So we're up a game and a half, if Carolina wins tonight we'll be up 2 and if they lose we'll be up 1.

    Tiebreaker vs. Bengals

Did we get by the Bengals for the third seed? We are tied for conference record and against common opponents the Bengals are 2-2 with a game against the Jets scheduled and the Patriots are 2-2 with the Texans coming up. What's the next scenario after that? I can't believe that I might have to root for the Jets two weeks in a row.

We have it now based on Nova Scotia's strength of victory calculations in the "week 15 playoff thread"

    Pats are third seed now

According to the updated NFL.Com standings, Pats have overtaken the Bengals for the No. 3 spot. That means a rematch with Denver at Home or possibly another game against Miami.

Man, winning this weeks game, and then resting everyone in Houston wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Our secondary would most likely get smoked by the Chargers.

Re: Wk 15 AFC Playoff Picture

Today was the best chance of San Diego slipping, and they beat Cincinnati. They're taking that first round bye, and it will be up to the Pats to play an extra game if they want to go the distance. This seems fated to be a Denver rematch, but thankfully in Foxboro this time.

I'd prefer Miami @ New England in December.
