I suppose the comment from NFL owner that the Hawks/Pack game really "shook" him tells you something about credibility of the NFL official statements regarding having made the "right call" on Monday night. I guess the owner commenting did not think it was the right call at all.

The text messages and tweets you probably really wanted to see were those between owners just after the Monday night game. They must have gone right off the deep end.

I'd say the refs made out pretty well here ... They keep their pensions for another five years, got a compromise on backup crews. Not bad.

Referees got their short-term grandfathering proposal through -- Current refs will remain under the old pension system for five more years.

The officials were always going to get a pay raise. It will be interesting to see the fine print.

Goodell was between a rock and a hard place, he had to resolve it.

In the future, Goodell may want to resolve this stuff before the season begins... the referees were gaining more and more power as the season progressed.

He cannot hold the rank and file accoutable for "tarnishing the brand", when he put that product on the field...

Fans and mediots need to embrace the simple fact that these things never get done until they have to get done and they never have to get done yesterday whatever it takes. It always takes at least two entities willing to acknowledge a middle ground even exists. And hardliners on either side will always fight that concept until the rank and file within each group has had enough. One thing this league has focused on is getting deals that work for them over the long haul and extending the process into the 8-10 year range as opposed to the standard 6 year term that always seems to have someone threatening to blow it all up every time fans turn around.

MLB caved long ago and you see what that has resulted in. The NBA keeps caving as half it's teams are teeter on the verge of bancrupcy. The NHL is locked out again. And nobody pays them a whole lot of mind until playoff time rolls around. The NFL is 24/7 approaching 365...even though they only actually play games in 20 weeks out of 52.

A very good labor negotiator/manager should have seen the consequence with not settling, after all the refs are not completely dependent on their part time job.. so economics are not in play as much.

Most predicted that the outcome of this labor dispute would not be good...

Goodell was brilliant after he entered into a 10 year agreement with the players..

Goodell is still a moron. Should of never gotten to this point and he has got a lot of making up to do to the game and its fans after this and bounty gate.
