I'm starting to think bilichick is drafting woody and bjge replacements. I think theyre going to be free agents next year.

    YouTube - Stevan Ridley Highlights
he looks like a faster green ellis

    Pick 74 Ryan Mallet
    YouTube - Ryan Mallett
Brady said he plans to play 10 more years lol. we will most likely use him in pre season and he will get the attention kevin kolb is getting from other teams.

    Pick 138 Marcus cannon
YouTube - Draft Preview: Marcus Cannon
the only highlights. if his cancer is cured. then we got a solid player next year! our line should look like this. LT= Solder LG= Mankins center= koppen or pick from next years draft RG= Cannon RT= Vollmer. we let light leave in FA he will be 34 and we resign Mankins!

They signed Woodhead to a 2 year extension last year. He's signed through the end of 2012.

That's a pretty good graphical representation by Bedard; it makes it easier to figure where the team is at with each position right now than just seeing all the players names listed in a row.

As for Kaczur, I figure he's as good as gone. He figures there's at least one team out there that will be willing to pay him starter's money, and he's probably right. For the Pats, it's tough to rationalize Kaczur being the 4th highest paid player on the team in 2011 and paying him $3.5 million unless they figure he would be that much of an improvement over Connolly at RG and the additional depth with Connolly as a backup is worth it. That money could then be allocated elsewhere, such as on an extension for Mankins perhaps.

I would think Pittsburgh would be first in like for Nick....The Colts close behind

Since the only real controversy at this point is at OT, let's go a bit further.

Consider us starting camp say in the first week of August. Who would be your starting OT's and backups?

From comments posted by mediots and most posters, both Light and Kaczur are seen to be going.

Great list, though there are some errors.

Steve Maneri is a Tackle, not a Guard. Thomas Austin is a guard, not a tackle.

Bedard ignored Shun White, Eric Kettani, and Tyree Barnes who are all on the Reserve/Military list and are eligible to attend camp this year.

He also missed Thomas Clayton, a RB.

I'm a bit melancholy with Light's tenuous situation with the team. Was hoping he would follow the Troy Brown, Bruschi, Harrison career close-out scenario with the team.

With that said, it's a business and the business is winning today and making sure you can win next year and the year after.

That's not a simple and easy question to answer because of the unknowns. The biggest factor will be labor negotiations in my opinion. If there is a cap (which I think there will be) then Kaczur's chance of returning drops immensely. If on the other hand the NFL goes with the uncapped year for one more season, then Kaczur probably returns if they cannot re-sign Light. If the Pats do keep Light then Kaczur's return is very doubtful regardless of whether the year is uncapped or not.

Another factor is free agency. The further we go before it starts the less attractive other team's free agents become; conversely, retaining their own players becomes more of a priority.

From the Patriots perspective the positive to re-signing Light is that there is more comfort level from day one and for the 2011 season as a whole; the negative is long-term implications to the cap and budget with the amount of money allocated to that one position as well as potentially dead cap money in the very near future.

Similarly the retaining of Kaczur provides a comfort level for 2011 at both tackle and at guard. The negative is that your 4th highest paid player projects to be a backup, which means you have less money for other players and positions.

We as fans are focused on this season, so of course we would like to see both players on this year's roster. The reality is that this will be very doubtful. The team's philosophy has always been to balance what is best this year with what is best in future years. A prolonged delay to the onset of free agency may very well alter that way of thinking for this year, but as of this moment I'm still more inclined to believe it will be business as usual for the Patriots - which would mean either Light, Kaczur or both will not be Patriots in week one.

Worst case scenario would be Solder and Vollmer as your starters with some combination of Maneri, LeVoir and a free agent as backups. A more likely scenario is Solder, Vollmer and one of Light or Kaczur, along with either Maneri or LeVoir as the 4th tackle.

    I still don't understand this.

If Kazcur is retained, he's most likely above Connoly on the Guard depth chart. Just as he was at the beginning of last year. He's a much better player.

I am one of the biggest supporters of Kaczur on this board. However, to say that Kaczur is ahead of Connolly for a starting job at RG is just crazy.

Kaczur NEVER played ONE DOWN at guard, not one down. He PRACTICED with the first team for ONE DAY.

I think that this is right. I would add that the most likely includes Maneri or LeVoir or a free agent as the 4th tackle.

Given that the choice between these two is in the control of the team, I would think that the worst case scenario would never happen. If Light isn't coming back, and Kaczur is a better choice than LeVoir, Maneri or a free agent, then Kaczur won't be cut. Alternatively if there is a better choice than Kaczur, then Kaczur would be cut, but then it wouldn't be the worst case scenario.

And got hurt. Still, there's a reason he was the first guy that BB grabbed: He's a decent tackle, and decent tackles tend to make good guards. Connoly isn't a good guard.

Sorry, MG, but Kaczur has taken snaps, prior to last year, at guard IN GAME.
