If the JETs win they come to the Blade with confidence.

that in itself is no biggy but consider.

What will the PATs players mindset be?
Will it be
"this is a damgerous team and we lose if we don't bring our A game"
or will it be something along the lines
"OK, great, we got a team that we've pounded 45 to 3. Let's
do it to them again!" ?

The second attitude is dangerous and can lead to a lot of mistakes.
Even with Bill preaching to them about how good this team is and that
they will correct the mistakes they made last time will the players
believe him and forget the 45-3 whopping they gave them?

It maybe best for PATs to get the Ravens, a team they barely beat
when they didn't have Reed.
Playing the Ravens, we can be sure PATs will be have the right mental
attitude going into that game.

Thoughts?

Uh oh trap game.

It doesn't matter, I'll never root for the Jets, even if it is against the Colts. Seeing them put out of their misery any way, any how brings a smile to my face.

I doubt the team adopts the latter mindset. This Patriots team is the most dialed-in (especially since the Cleveland game) that I have seen in quite a few years. Even the 2007 team sort of faded a bit down the stretch. Not the 2010 Patriots. I believe whomever heads to Foxborough next weekend will be viewed as dangerous and capable of beating the Patriots if the team does not bring its A game in all phases (offense, defense, special teams, and coaching). Furthermore, I expect this mindset to pervade throughout their run through the playoffs.

Why would a Colts win be better for a Point After Touchdown?

Your point's not a bad one--the psychological component to sports is real. The Jets have beaten the Pats a couple of times, and division games are usually tight.

On the flip side, a week of hearing "33-14" will have the Pats coming out breathing fire against the Ravens.

I think they win comfortably against either team, but I see your point.

Whichever team the Pats play, you can say they come in with momentum, because they'll have won this weekend. Does it matter? Last year Ravens stomped Pats, then did nothing in Indy (20-3); OTOH, Jets beat Cinci then upset SD. I'm just rooting for physical games today and tomorrow; that's where the bye advantage comes in.

Jets misery or Manning face, which is sweeter. I would fear the Pats playing the jerks more than the dolts. I just can't see a dome team, that can't run, that can't stop the run, with a defense that is not very good, coming out to NE in the middle of January and winning.

It was pretty cold on that day in november. Colts worry the most out of anyone. I don't care how bad their defense is. They have peyton manning and for some reason as soon as pats hit that 17 pt lead peyton starts playing out of his mind. If jets can eliminate them for us, then that's great. I think it will come down to colts-pats in the afccg. Squeelers go one & done.

I view this as a "glass half full game". If the Jets win, it,
a) knocks the Colts out of the playoffs- never a bad thing- especially when they go 'one and done' which for Manning would be his 7th in 12 opportunities(Brady has only done it once in 7 opportunities) and
b) ups the cost of the Cromartie trade from a 3rd rounder to a second rounder, hurting them long term.
If the Colts win, it is a dagger through the heart and forces Rex Ryan to stand at a podium and explain why they didn't win the Lombardi trophy, or even a playoff game when they were built to 'win this year'...What was it he wrote on the ESPN bus??? "Soon to be champs"
When will it happen?

Considering all the bluster from this year, then has to remove his foot from his mouth....figuratively only I hope.

First year following a Belichick-led team?

Any given Sunday and all, but if the Pats lay an egg, it won't be because they took the game lightly. Personally, I think the Colts are more dangerous then the Jets, based only on the Manning factor, but I don't see either team coming to NE and beating them. Could happen, but it doesn't seem likely either way.

Over analysis IMO ... Patriots will be prepared to play regardless of opponent.

You seriously think the team will have different mental attitude regarding their opponent?

Look no further than the snow game to see our mental approach does not change.

The Pats attitude will be this is their first playoff game and they must respect whoever the opponent is and if they do not play their best anyone can beat them.
It wil be the same regardless of the opponent.
There mentality will be win or go home, not a judgment of who the opponent is.
I can't believe how some people think a teams play is based on how good they think the other team is and they only try that hard.

Amazing how many posters here completely forgot about how the Pats ALREADY played the Ravens this year with TWO WEEKS rest and heard non-stop about that beat down last year.

Sorry, but that " by the hair of the chinny chin chin" win doesn't fill me with much lust for another.

Gimme Loud Rex next week and his clearly inferior team.

........and I want the Jets comp to SD to be a 2nd rounder instead of a 3rd rounder for Cromartie.

In dont know that close win was when we were playing about as well as when we LOST to the Jets. Clearly we were much improved by the time we played the Jets, so I don't think you can compare Ravens vs Jets #2 and ignore Jets #1.
I don't really care who we play. IMO, we will beat everyone unless we play like crap and then any team good enough to win this weekend would probably bounce us.

Amazing--all this Jets or Baltimore stuff when it's going to be neither. We will face KC and Pitt--you can forget the rest of the pack.

I don't get why anyone here wants the Colts to win.

2010 Gillette Games:

Pats 23-Ravens 20 (OT) Chinny chin chin win

Pats 31-Colts 28 Heart attack win

Pats 45 - Jets 3 Most fun any of us had this season with our pants on.

Belichick is convinced he's playing god Almighty every week and prepares like it.
When BB huddled the team on the side lines of the jets rout on national TV screaming for the rampage to keep going 100% all 60 minutes in the 3rd qtr with a 38-3 score these rookies learned the BB never have mercy moddo 1st hand.

Scary as hell Belichick brady bulldozer mentality. They're gonna play like rabbid animals, Brady looks like a raging beast on the sidelines. Against Greenbay they tossed up 10 points in the 4th qtr in a blink to close the deal.

Ravens or jets will come in with confidence and swagger. Who ever comes to foxboro is gonna get 4 qtrs of hell thats for sure.

Agreed with consensus. Ideally it would be Jets @ Pats while the Ravens and Steelers beat each other up.
