Looks like he's done. Thanks for the memories for the 2nd best low round pick in Pats history (Troy Brown #1)
I meant 2nd best 7th round pick (Troy was 7th rounder too, I think)
Nope, he was an 8th rounder when the 8th round still existed.
8th ! holy smokes, that was what a dozen years ago ?
Pretty much, the last year that there were 8 rounds in the draft was 1993, the year Brown was picked.
wow. I really feel bad for him. I hope he gets better and finds himself back on the field.
I agree. People leave all the time and I don't usually have a grudge against them unless they start trashing the Pats when they leave or they hold out demanding a bigger contract.
Sad to see that there is a chance he may not play again.
Actually the only year there were only 8 rounds was 1993, in 1992 there were 12.
In 1994 when they shortened the draft from 8 to 7 rounds they kept the same number of players drafted, by adding the comp picks at the end of rounds. That's still how it's done today, there are 8 rounds worth of players drafted in the 7 rounds.
I'm happy for Givens in that he got his contract. If he were to get that injury while playing on a below market value contract that would suck. It's a reminder as to why players want to get paid while they can. Their career might be over tomorrow.
In what world is Brady in the 6th round not a "low round pick?"
