    Not that this board needs another Moss thread, but it'd be interesting to see if there's any consensus.

    Furious they only got a 3rd. And if that wasn't enough, the Pats threw in a 7th.

    Likewise. We'll just have to see what happens.

    Contrary to prognostications of the Nostradami here, we don't have any idea how this will turn out.

    Even though I love the guy's athleticism, I think he is on the downside of his career and is a head case and a diva. It was time to end this relationship. Only prob I have with the trade is the 3rd rounder. Couldn't we have at least gotten a 2nd? The experiment is now over. I need a new nickname.:(

    I like the trade, i was never really enthusiastic about aquiring him in the first place. I like Defense, i like watching defense, and i think defense wins championships. So i would rather have seen the pats take David Harris and Lamar Woodley that year, they could have had Both.

    After the loss in the AFCCG to Indy BB decided to go offense, i wish he hadn't back then.

    I'm in the angry group. I'm very angry that Moss was traded, I'd rather he was benched than traded to a team that we have to play yet. I can see this trade potentially costing us the division.

    Imo it helps the Vikings beat the Patriots, makes things a lot easier for good Ds like the Bears, Packers, Ravens and the Jets. I can see what I had as 13-3/12-4 being 10-6 at best now.

    Furious doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about this. You don't trade away your best reciever, arguably 2nd best player period, for what amounts to a bag of peanuts. Why not just let him play the season out and walk. I understand the whole "Team only" attitude, but EVERY elite reciever has issues. You deal with them because he gives you production that NO ONE ELSE can give you. It's that simple.

    I predict this offense to fall apart now. I wouldn't be surprised to see this team go on a losing streak as we have a very tough schedule to face now. They can kiss a run game goodbye.

    My thoughts:

    -I'm ready to see the team give the keys to Tate and Hernandez. Both these kids look like long term starters to me.

    -I don't expect to see too much dropoff in the overall offensive production. Moss' deep ball skills are irreplaceable, but he's been less and less productive on short/medium routes each year since he came here.

    -I like getting value for Moss but think we kinda got screwed. Should've picked up at least a depth pick in 2012, something more than a 3rd rounder.

    -Belichick's sitting on 2 picks in each round from 1 through 4 in next year's draft. This team is not going to have that many spots open on its 2011 roster. Normally, in this situation, Belichick would move picks for future years. This time, I want a power play in the draft. Assuming we pick around #5, #25 and #35 (IMO these are reasonable guesses, though I know someone's gonna scream that we'll pick at #32), I want a big move UP to land TWO impact defenders. I want Robert Quinn and Marcel Dareus starting on the 2012 Patriots, and I'm not leaving until I get what I want.

    I felt sick at first, I just hated it;

    Then I found out we only got a 3 and hated it more and was angry;

    Then I heard about the crap he has been pulling, even at halftime in the locker room, and I have switched over to acceptance and hope.

    It was a required move. You can't accept insubordination and lack of effort or the attitude spreads like wildfire.

    I'm in wait-and-see mode, but my initial reaction is "ugh".

    As well as BJGE has looked in the last two games, he's not Corey Dillon circa 2004. If the running game proves not good enough to keep teams honest, the passing game is going to miss Moss even as someone who just reliably draws double-teams. Teams are going to bracket Welker like crazy now and dare Brady to go to the TEs, Edleman and Tate. My wait-and-see attitude is there because I wouldn't be shocked if those guys and Brady step up, but I'm only cautiously optimistic at this point.

    On the other hand, if this means more gameplans with Brady under center and play calls that try to keep the opponent guessing, I like it. The 2007 Pats fell in love with the spread and indeed it's effective against most of the league, but the playoff teams won't fear it. Plus, the Pats have run it so much the last few years that the good teams will have plenty of game film to dissect and find ways to stop it. Maybe no Moss means more diversity in the formations.

    Regards,
    Chris

    Me too i like the higher percentage short to medium passing game. I know Moss is a decoy, but hes not worth 9 million with his lower production and his disruptive behaviour. He would probably shut it down on the field.

    I'm sick of hearing about this disruptive behaviour crap. Moss has been brilliant since he got here, he has been seeing less and less of the ball this season and as a ruthless competitor he is not going to be happy about that. We were losing at halftime and really looked horrific on offense when this blowup happenen. I can understand a veteran superstar being really pissed about that.

    People talk about egos and disruptive behaviour, those things happen if a player doesn't think he is getting any respect. Its about man management and if you can't do that to a reasonable level then you should not be an offensive co-ordinator.

    Totally bummed. I thought the offense was going to bail out the defense while it gelled and that we could go far this season based on how the 1st quarter has gone. Now everything is uncertain (or worse). Dink & Dunk and 20 points only gets it done if your D can hold the opponent under 20, and if you have threat at running back, which I can't say we have.

    I will move on, however, by the Baltimore game. If we could get another decent player on the roster between now and then, I will feel better.
