Of all people for me to support, I am actually on Barney F.'s side 100% with his efforts here, both in Congress and his local lobbying. I am a member of the Poker Player Alliance and believe me when I say Barney F. is one of our best friends... You go, girl..!!

Internet gambling is a target of Patrick bill
    Casino initiative makes it illegal

Even as Governor Deval Patrick seeks to license three resort casinos in Massachusetts, he hopes to clamp down on the explosion in Internet gambling by making it illegal for state residents to place a bet on line. He has proposed jail terms of up to two years and $25,000 fines for violators.

The provision, buried deep in Patrick's bill to allow three casinos to the state, puts the governor at odds with a fellow Democrat: US Representative Barney Frank, the sponsor of federal legislation to license and regulate online gambling nationally. Yesterday Frank strongly criticized the governor's plan to punish online gamers while inviting casino operators to set up shop.

But in trying to ban online gambling while expanding casinos, the governor's administration appears to be alienating a constituency that might otherwise support his gambling expansion.

The Poker Players Alliance, a group that says it represents the interests of online gamblers, began a letter-writing campaign last week and has generated 1,700 letters to the governor and various state legislators. The Washington-based organization has 16,000 members in Massachusetts, which is a fraction of what the alliance estimates are the 250,000 online poker players in the state.

Patrick is a "politically correct choice Governor" you never know what he will come up with.

I can't stand Barney Frank but like Billy Blue Dress he is a very slick politician.

I think that's a nice way of saying he's a 100% gutless empty suit... but hey, he's very articulate and drives a nice car..!!

Harry this isn't the first time you've gone after Patrick with some blanket statements. Now I'm not necessarily a Patrick fan, but it's almost like you automatically think he's a bad leader because he's an 'affirmative action' choice in your mind.

If you live in Mass then you know how ridiculous Kerry Healy was, you can't say with a straight face that Healy was even close as a viable choice against Patrick.

Both candidates absolutely suck. I can't understand why anyone would think one is a better choice than the other. What has either of them done in their lives? Only in this state can we have two idiots run for governor. Patrick has no clue, and Healey was a piece of wood.

As for the gambling bit, it's good to see some people want to put my ass in jail for playing a $4 sit-n-go online. It's great to see we have our priorities in order. Afterall, we want to make sure the people in this state direct all their money to the state monopoly on gambling. Gambling is baaaaaaaad for you people, unless of course it's a $20 scratch ticket. You know, that money goes to buy books, put cops on the street, build a fire station...

hey, look everyone!! it's Father False Prophet's young disciple!!... but awww... his pius mentor is going to be disappointed; gambling is a "sin"...

anyhow, perhaps when you're done pledging support for Barney Frank, with a side order of unnecessary gay bashing (typical), you can explain to the forum why your principles are so utterly negotiable... i mean, for someone with such an especially profound loathing for homosexuals, you sure are quick to "make friends" with one when faced with a threat to your illegal habit... yeah, i think we understand...

now then, why dont you save a bit of face and tell the forum the whole story... you know, by acknowledging (and condemning) the PoS wacko religious REPUBLICAN senator, Bill Frist, who weasel-dycked the original piece of anti-poker legislation through last year -- the one hidden and tucked under a larger, unrelated, bill destined to pass without much review (the very patriotic ports security bill), and done so just before the Houses left for recess ... i mean, at least Patrick is being up front about it.... whereas Frist, who accepted a nice cash gift from at least one Vegas casino, had to hide it after it failed at least once before... Frist's sneaky, albeit typical GOP maneuver, was implemented with 1/2 hour before the session recessed... and it's largely become a hollow piece of legistlation... I, for one, never stopped playing... (mainly because i've never had to make a deposit since)

for the record, what i would give to sit across the table and hustle a player like QuiGon... talk about tells galore...

    Putting On My Moderator's Hat

PC, C'mon now, personal attacks aren't allowed and, really until your post, there aren't any personal attacks in this thread. Nor are there any homophobic attacks. In fact, QuiGon called Barney Frank a bedfellow. What more can you ask?

    I think he's a bad leader because he's a bad leader.
