There is plenty of room for upgrades. I have 10 OL's, but one will likely give way to a 3rd QB.
    ===============================================

    POSITIONS FOR UPGRADE
    #4 OT Britt
#4 WR Kight (the need is really for a #1 receiver)
    #5 WR Childress/Sullivan/Brown
    #4 DE Hill/Thomas
    #7 DL Smith
    #5 LB Alexander
    #6 LB Woods
    #3 CB Scott
    #4 CB Gay
    #4 S Hawkins
    #3 ST Baker
    #4 ST Spann

This presumes that Samuel and Harrison will available for Game One.

BB and Scott Pioli have always believed in ungrading all 53

    roster positions.

    #11 Jersey

I completely agree with the premise, but I'm not going to assume that all of last year's developmental rookies are easily upgradeable. Pierre Woods and LeKevin Smith beat out Mincey and Sullivan, and have had a critical year of seasoning at positions--OLB and NT--that are extremely challenging for rookies to pick up. What's more, those are both pretty thin positions in this draft.

    #12 Jersey

Odd choice to put all four of those guys on but not Izzo and Davis.

It's probably better to put the ST-oriented guys in with their other positions, as best one can.

And I think some of the upgrades could come from cutting ST specialists and replacing them with serious developmental defenders who happen to also play STs.

Oh yeah -- Thomas is a gunner, isn't he?

After Welker, I think this team has made enough Free Agency moves. They should extend either Warren or Wilfork now, if possible, and use the remaining funds on their draft picks.

#4 cb Gay - I suppose you could upgrade him, but if healthy he's a significant upgrade over what we were throwing out there last year.

#4 s Hawkins - He is actually a very good fourth safety. He got exposed having to start half the year, but he's a good reserve-depth guy.

#3 cb scott - another guy who played pretty well. I think Gay as the #3 and Scott as the #4 isn't a bad set of corners. Add an upside rook and we're looking pretty sweet.

It's also way to soon to assume Jackson on PUP. Obviously we have positions to upgrade, like somebody else said, BB is looking to upgrade every position.

Izzo and Davis are both UFA and aren't on the roster as of now.

There is no room at the inn for a OL tackle and only moderate room at G but a C may be possible.

There are six ex-starting, playable safeties. Harrsion, Geno, Hawk and Sanders, together with Scott and Gay, before you get to Baker and Andrews.

They did get to Baker for the second half of their 19th game, the AFCCG, due to injury. But toplay Baker thy also needed Seau Davis and TBC to be out as well.

And however unlikely, it happened, but you can't plan for it. You can only carry 9 or 10 DBs and the PATS WERE DOWN TO THEIR 14TH secondary player in the closing minutes of the AFCCG.

I'd guess that there is little room at the inn for a DL as Hill's position could be taken by a good NT backup, preferentially. Hill is not the 4th DE; he is the fifth behind, Sey-Monsta, Ty, Jarvis and Wright.

We need LBs LBs and more LBs. Our fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth LBs, are not playable in a regular defense, assuming TBC is gone in FA. One reason that I'd love to resign him,as it is not easy to find a Lb with pass rush ability.

Other front offices value him as Pats fans apparently do not. He has ELEVEN teams wanting to talk to him...
