Planned Parenthood Reports Record Abortions, Profits, Tax Funds
    Randy Hall

(CNSNews.com) - Despite a drop in donations and the first fall in income from clinics in its history, the nation's biggest abortion provider made a record profit last year, thanks to the American taxpayer. Pro-lifers want this to stop.

During its 2005-2006 fiscal year, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America performed a record 264,943 abortions, attained a record profit of $55.8 million and received record taxpayer funding of $305.3 million.

According to its annual report, income is divided roughly into three major categories: clinic income (fees charged to customers at clinics); donations (gifts from corporations, foundations and individuals); and taxpayer money (grants and contracts from federal, state and local government).

For the year July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006, Planned Parenthood received $345.1 million in clinic income, $305.3 million in taxpayer funding and $212.2 million in donations. Total income reached $902.8 million while total expenses came to $847.0 million, leaving a profit of $55.8 million.

    ...............

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, noted that while the PPFA reported carrying out a record number of abortions in 2005-2006, it "did not record a single adoption referral."

Planned Parenthood can give up their profits when Haliburton gives up theirs. In capitalist America, abortions are a medical service, and since nobody wants socialized healthcare, companies charge for medical services. Does that taint their credibility as a lobbiest? Maybe.

Really? I don't know much about abortion pricing, but that sounds like a good deal. Do they offer 2-for-1?

    LOL.

The Liberals call Bush a murderer for the war but they happily kill 1/4 million babies a year.

Sorry to bring up Haliburton, but they're profiting from others' misfortune, just like Planned Parenthood, no? Sorry that you don't like valid examples because they hit you in your weak spot.

It wouldn't be a discussion if you didn't bring up my bottom-line mentality, when applicable, and it won't be a discussion if I don't bring up Iraq, when applicable. Your sporadic stupidity isn't off the table just because it involves a certain war.

    That's fine but it's completely off topic, Haliburton . . . Abortion . . . not connection.

If you have a problem with oil profits and gas prices do what I did - put some money in oil companies, I have some in Vanguard's energy fund and the money I make more than pays for the extra I pay at the pump. If you can't beat them, join them.

No, the connection is profit. RW criticized Planned Parenthood for profiting from abortions, and I pointed out that companies profit from misfortune all the time, like Haliburton. Funeral homes profit off of death. So what? Capitalism is alive and well.

Well RW and I are talking about different things - he's focused on the profit, I was focused on the 1/4 million murders.

Ahh, well, I do understand that point of view (abortion=murder), I just disagree with it, but I can't give anyone sh!t for it because I do understand how one can see it that way.

Welcome to the liberal's favorite (and only) debating tactic.
Someone talks about abortion..? Respond with a reference to Iraq.
Someone brings up illegal immigration...? Respond with a reference to Iraq.
Someone brings up the Hawley-Smoot Tarriff..? Respond with a reference to Iraq

    etc...

I'm sure everyone who visits this thread will quickly see the direct relationship between abortion and Halliburton-Iraq. I mean, it's been the core problem in settling the differences between pro-lifers and those who believe in a womans right to choose. If the Iraq war hadn't happened, this country never would have had to deal with the controversy surrounding Roe V. Wade. Wasn't Roe the CEO of Halliburton, and Wade that dictator in Iraq, or do I have them mixed up?

The part I have a problem with is the $300M in taxpayer funding. Other than that, they're running a legal business with private income - more power to them although I don't like their business.

That's right, it's those fricken funeral homes dammit!

No wait, it's that capitalism crap that's to blame.

What were you saying about stupidity again? :D

Ahh, this is the part where you play coy. You don't see the connection between profiting from one set of misfortunes versus profiting from another?

I criticize them for murdering babies. That they do it for a profit acrued through tax payer funds is secondary for me, but still upsetting. :D
