    I thought it's the opposite.

I expect Harry Boy, ELORocks, Qui Gon, and patsfan13 to be dancing in the street because the muslim terrorists have struck liberal New York City again.

There is nothing the right-wing kooks love more than to see New York City bombed back to the stone age.

    Now that is freaky.

I guess it was one of those small planes, some think it may have even been a helicopter.

Nobody here really wants to see any part of America bombed. We have some mean and stupid people here, but not that mean and stupid.

From CNN: "New York Yankees manager Joe Torre says the plane that crashed into a building in Manhattan is registered to team pitcher Cory Lidle."

I wonder if Bush will order the military to bomb the Yankees!

Sometimes it is better to wait before you make comments such as this.. it does not seem to be terror related, a Yankees Pitcher who piloted the plane died along with 4 others.

No not at all, this only reminds the people of what can happen, that air space in the area over the river is unrestricted, the Muslims can load a small plane up with explosives and fly right into NYC, pick a target and attack us again, and don't think for one minute that those smelly bastards aren't watching every bit of what is going on in NY today.

Our Govt had fighter planes flying over many of America's big city's today right after this happened I hope to God the Liberals aren't offended by this.

Mikey, the last I heard two people in the bulding died and possibly more.

Nobody needs to help you in your excellance of ignorance do they?

Prayers and sympathy to the friends, families & victims of todays tragedy. Aparently 2 (Lidle & ?) perished in the craft...still not saying.

Heroes thank you to the NY City Fire & Police who entered that building A.S.A.P. with no bias towards past tragedies. Totally unaware of what they were running into except it was a plane crash....these men are as brave as any in the world.

Today was very cloudy and overcast, what immeadiatly caught my thoughts on 9/11, was that is was maybe the clearest day I could remember in NYC.

Apparently Lidle just simpley didn't see the building through the clouds. Very, very sad.

Mikey please keep posting stuff like you did in this thread, it reminds the rest of us, why we never agree with liberals.

And if conservatives were somehow rooting for a terrorist attack, don't you think that the Barbara Striesand concert at MSG, would be a much more "target rich" enviroment?

I hate to speak too soon, but most likely this was just another example of a rich jerk with more money than sense. I'm a licensed pilot and rated to teach people how to fly in the clouds. There's just no reason for something like this to happen. If the weather was clear, its impossible to not notice a giant building getting bigger and bigger right in the middle of the windshield, and if it was cloudy there's a system in place. ATC, whom he absolutely should have contacted if he was in the clouds, can guide you away from areas with tall buildings, and there's charts which clearly label the minimum safe altitude for every square inch of the country.

It appears to be Yankee pitcher Corey Lidle. He was flying down the E River, in that area there are a lot of Hekicopters flyng around. The specualtionis he may have been trying to avoid another aircraft. He was flying out of Teterboro in NJ, whihcis run by the PA.

Lidle said this particular plane has a parachute in case of failure.

When I saw the headlines on my home page I was stunned. I browsed the news to get the latest on this tragic accident. I figured there would be some comments and condolences on Patsfans and figured to leave one of my own. It was bad enough too see the usual political pissing contest going on, but to see this horrific attempt at a joke puts being a social outcast in perspective. My condolences to the Lidle family and all who died in this accident. My hope that the Munson family and friends are not visitors to this site and I wish them well, as I'm sure this brings back painful memories to them.

The feds choose to not differentiate between different types of aeronautical activity. An airliner is given no more preferential treatment than a glider. Since you can't close the airspace over major cities (how would anyone travel anywhere?) it has to be available to everyone. All they choose to do is charge a landing fee at a few of the major airports. That tends to keep the little planes from landing and taking off there; but that's it.

edit: That's not to say that there's no rules for operating over the city, there's a ton of them in fact. Just that anyone who chooses to obey those rules is as welcome to operate there as anyone else.

I was very surprised to hear that also, my Grandaughter told me that so I am not absolutely positive of it.
She lives in Brooklyn and was in Manhattan on 9/11, we didn't hear from her for 35 hours I thought she was dead, she had an appointment in the North Tower at 9:30 AM she was in a restaraunt at the other end of town when the planes hit. She came back to Maine and stayed for two weeks, she still lives and works there though. You are right it is scary but you can't stop living.

He didn't just not see the bulding and fly into it; he made a mayday call and reported fuel problems before crashing.

That's a little off-base. New York City is almost entirely Class B controlled air space because of the major airports around it, meaning even VFR (visual flight rules) flights need Air Traffic Control clearence before entering the airspace. The FAA says he literally disappeared off their radar.
