THE FINAL THREE (PICK 3)
(Webster), Alexander, Izzo, (Aiken),(Eckel), Wilhite
(Spann),(Richardson),Guyton),(Redd),(Ruud), (Ventrone)
------------------------------------------------
I think the offense is in pretty good shape, although Welbourne could end up replacing someone put on the IR.

The defense is now also in great shape. Lynch is a major addition.

All we have left is to pick the last three special teamers.
---------------------------------------------
OFFENSE (24)
QB - 3 Tom Brady, Cassel, O’Connell
RB - 4 Faulk, Maroney, Morris, Jordan
FB - 1 Evans
C - 2 Koppen, Hochstein
G - 2 Mankins, Yates
OT - 4 Light, O'Callaghan, Kaycur, Britt
WR - 5 Moss, Gaffney, Welker, Washington, Jackson
TE - 3 Watson, Thomas, Pollard

DEFENSE (22)
DE - 3 Warren, Green, Seymour
DT - 4 Wilfork, Wright, Smith, Thomas
OLB- 4 Vrabel, Adalius Thomas, Crable, Woods
ILB- 3 Bruschi, Mayo, Hobson
CB – 4 Hobbs, Bryant, Wheatley, Sanders
S - 4 Sanders, Harrison, Meriweather, Lynch

SPECIALISTS (4)
P - 1 Hanson
K - 1 Gostkowski
LS - 1 Paxton
R - 1 Slater

PUP LIST
2 Neal, Ross

THE FINAL THREE
3 Alexander, Izzo, Wilhite

You're spot on, one change though, I think Richardson beats out Sanders if he can get on the field in time. But you did a great job. I agree with everything you have here. Antoine Spann is making this team in some capacity, that I know.
This definately could be the end of our warrior Larry Izzo in Patriot blue.

So I have Richardson (If healthy) replacing a cut Sanders
then
Wilhite, Guyton and Antoine Spann on board

Re: I'm in

Spann, Richardson*, and a linebacker (the reports on them are all starting to run together, it makes my head hurt).

*If Richardson does not get healthy quickly, I'll go with Wilhite.

That last three is going to be tough to pick as it seems most of them are having good camps.
That is, from what I've read.

This is a great breakdown of things..I see 5 RBs, 3 TEs and 5 WRs....7 DL...I really have a question on two of what you have before THE FINAL THREE. Only 8 O linemen? Are you counting on Light and O'Callaghan being ready for opening day?? If you THINK that will happen, then I agree 8 will be OK, but if one is NOT ready then that changes the situation dramatically. That player who is not ready is inactive until back on the mend. That means ALL other linemen must be OK to make the starting 5 plus 2 reserves active list. A bit thin if one is already injured, for if another goes down, a roster move is needed. (obviously if BOTH are not ready..it's a no go.) It might be worth it, might not. Also, you are thinking/hoping that Hobson will finally get into the swing of things and be a viable 3rd ILB. I am hoping that as well, but if Guyton is looked at as a future partner with Mayo inside, I believe, Hobson could be on the outs.
As to the 3?? Alexander not only gives depth inside, but a strong STer...Izzo..is the ST Captain and needed with all his experience...and Wilhite, the fifth corner.
To all those who are cutting Izzo...who will be the experienced ST player?? Usually the Patriots have 1 or 2 with years of knowledge of STs. Are you just negating that experience..thinking its not needed?? I think CoachB has a much different view. Aiken might have been next in line..but probably will be IRed...most likely Izzo stays..if not and one wishes a ST captain with little experience...I doubt that will happen.

Yes, I expect Light to be ready to start the season. I expect O'Callaghan to either be ready or to be put on the IR, and replaced by Welbourn. Yes, seven OL's are active, but only 5 play much at all. I've fine with only one inactive for four weeks.

Yes, I think Hobson is going to make it as part of the rotation. I don't see Guyton beating him out. You would counting on Alexander as part of the ILB rotation. In any case, it may be Seau that replaces Hobson.

Right now, Izzo is a lock. There is no way he has lost his job this early. One of the younger guys might supplant him, but it will be harder than some think. He is a great team mate, never any trouble, a very good STer and the captain.

OFFENSE (26)
QB - 3 Tom Brady, Cassel, O’Connell
RB - 4 Faulk, Maroney, Morris, Jordan
FB - 1 Evans
C - 2 Koppen, Hochstein
G - 2 Mankins, Yates, Welbourn - 9 OL is pretty standard for the Pats.
OT - 4 Light, O'Callaghan, Kaycur, Britt
WR - 5 Moss, Gaffney, Welker, Washington, Jackson, Aiken - ST, was having a good camp as a WR.
TE - 3 Watson, Thomas, Pollard

DEFENSE (23)
DE - 3 Warren, Green, Seymour
DT - 4 Wilfork, Wright, Smith, Thomas
OLB- 4 Vrabel, Adalius Thomas, Crable, Woods
ILB- 3 Bruschi, Mayo, Guyton, Alexander - mg is taking drugs to cut Guyton. ST, Alexander is hard to keep over Izzo, but he does have more LB capacity than Izzo.
CB – 4 Hobbs, Bryant, Wheatley, Sanders
S - 4 Sanders, Harrison, Meriweather, Spann - Keeping a CB/S tweener who has been having a good camp makes sense if you are keeping just 8 DBs.

SPECIALISTS (4)
P - 1 Hanson
K - 1 Gostkowski
LS - 1 Paxton
R - 1 Slater

THE FINAL THREE
3 Alexander, Izzo, Wilhite

REMOVED
Hobson - has shown nothing to justify a roster spot to this point in camp.
Lynch - I may as well be consistent.

Couple of points..First,thank you for taking the time to compile your 53 man roster.

IMHO,running backs/FullBacks and TE's are interrelated positions.By that I mean they have both pass catching and blocking resps.

If you're going to carry 5 Rb's and 3 TE's,that is 8 players on offense who would not really impact sp/teams to a great degree.

I just don't see how Pollard sticks here, especially with an extra running back.

With the ability to put Morris,Jordan or Faulk out on a wing,it just seems to make a 3rd pure TE redundant.

Next...Larry Izzo...Thanks Lar for your service, but for a cap hit of probably 800K+,it's time to hang up the old spikes.

I don't want to risk losing Guyton,Redd,
Richardson and especially,Ventrone.

Ray Ventrone reminds me of Bob Gladieux(sic?),if anyone goes back that far.

He can also catch passes and I think our old pal,Eric Ratgini, would take him back in a nanosecond.

Izzo won't see a minute at linebacker,Pollard
isn't a blocking TE and doesn't add to ST's.

....Time to go

I don't think there's any way a rookie bumps off Izzo. But Aiken, if healthy, absolutely could.

I agree that a healthy Aiken could beat out Izzo for ST captain and perhaps his roster spot. But Aiken isn't healthy.

OT: Stewart Bradley is starting at MLB for Philly.

How badly is he hurt then?
