Another riveting piece of "journalism" by Mike Florio.

They were just keeping the Jests, Raiders, and Chargers from trading for him.

I cannot believe that the media is still brining up an offhanded remark made about a 5th round draft pick almost 15 years ago.

Things like this are going a long way towards ruining my enjoyment of sports. I mean, really. The media needs to let it go.

Change the thread title to " PFT: Will Myra nix the deal?" That story's got legs, youbetcha:rocker:

Was this by any chance the same source that told him the Pats were going to cut Randy Moss in '07?
If Florio ever revealed who his sources are he'd put Herschel Walker to shame.

Does this mean there is a "disconnect" between Myra Kraft and the Patriots?? :D
It's so hilarious how much they worry about the Patriots.

Re: PFT:pats' trade for Ojinnaka raises eyebrows

As much as guys like Florio often make something out of nothing, I think this is a valid question. If this guy really did push his wife down some stairs and threw her out of the house then he is a POS who shouldn't be on the team. The fact that I've heard nothing about any kind of legal case or jail time makes me think this was maybe an unfounded allegation, but I for one want more info.

Re: PFT:pats' trade for Ojinnaka raises eyebrows

While I don't agree with what this kid did nor would I do something like that myself I don't think he should be compares to Peters, who was a repeat offender. Everyone makes mistakes, hopefully this was an isolated and the last incident for this guy.

The only problem I have with the trade is that the guy can't play

Re: PFT:pats' trade for Ojinnaka raises eyebrows

No kidding. It's about as bad as the Pats being mentioned as a possible destination of almost every free agent with a checkered past the last couple of seasons simply because Moss and Dillon did well here.

I'm still waiting for the media to pick the Pats as the best new landing spot for former BP CEO Tony Hayward. :)

While one would think that bringing in Corey Dillon would have put an end to this stuff, Florio is both a crap stirrer and a "moral" crusader, so seeing this on PFT shouldn't really be a suprise.

PFT used to be a daily read but now I'm lucky if I find myself there a couple times a month....sadly it's understandable.

Make it an RSS feed and sort of split the difference. That way you can read the headlines and decide if it's worth going to the site. :)

I actually used RSS Ticker for years but now I usually read Rotoworld Latest NFL Player News a couple times a day.

A simple Wiki search brings up:

    Christian Peter
While at Nebraska, Peter had eight run-ins with the law for various offenses such as threatening a parking attendant while his vehicle was being towed, trespassing, public urination, refusing to comply with police, minor in possession of alcohol, failure to appear in court, and allegedly grabbing a woman by the throat. He was convicted four times.[3] [4]

Most infamously, he was alleged to have raped Kathy Redmond [5], a freshman from Littleton, Colorado; two times in two days--the second with two of his teammates watching. Redmond didn't report it to police until after her freshman year. Redmond's parents confronted various Nebraska coaches about it, but Peter was never charged or disciplined. This inaction led Redmond to file a Title IX suit against Nebraska in 1995; the suit was settled two years later with Nebraska paying $50,000 and the other two agreeing to pay an undisclosed sum of money. Former coach Tom Osborne has since apologized to Redmond and the two have reconciled.[3] Recently, Osborne invited Redmond to speak to the football team about voilence against women.

In 1993, Peter sexually assaulted Melissa DeMuth in his dorm room, and also groped Natalie Kuijvenhoven (a former Miss Nebraska) in a crowded bar and told her how she loved it in an obscenity-laced tirade. He was convicted and sentenced to 18 months probation, and was suspended for a 1993 exhibition game.

    Quinn Ojinnaka
In May 29, 2009, Ojinnaka was arrested for simple battery at his home in Suwanee, Georgia after he fought with his wife and spat at her during an argument over a female friend of his on the social networking website Facebook, according to a police report. Ojinnaka told to the police his wife tried to stab him with a pen, and she said he threw her on some stairs before tossing her out of the house, the police report said.[1] He was later suspended by the NFL for the first game of the 2010 regular season.

Hmmm... a rapist/molester vs a guy who allegedly threw his wife on some stairs after she allegedly tried to stab him with a pen?

    What a dumb comparison.

Maybe, maybe not. This will be a matter for the law to decide, not the Belichick Detective Agency.

It's disturbing that these womens names are forever attached to Peters and the crimes he committed. There should be a law... Oh wait...
