ProFootballTalk.com - RAIDERS WON’T FILE TAMPERING CHARGES AGAINST PATRIOTS

Excerpt:
On Tuesday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that the Raiders have informed the league that the team won’t be pursuing formal tampering charges against the Patriots.

It remains to be seen whether the NFL takes any action against the Raiders for making the public allegation of tampering. Chances are that the matter will now just slip away.

Of course it will. But turn the tables and it wouldn't.

Re: PFT: No tampering charges.

If there is no penalty for the Raiders, it would be a major change of character for Goodell.

He just suspended Pacman Jones indefinitely for tussling with his bodyguard, basically because he said 'no tolerance.'

If he has behaved this way in the past, and sent a letter to the Raiders stating penalties if the charges were not backed up, he would be very inconsistent if he doesn't follow through on his word.

Re: PFT: No tampering charges.

Didnt they already report this?

Re: PFT: No tampering charges.

Your final statement is absolutely correct. 31 of the 32 NFL teams

will have a fine imposed on the opposition if their quarterback is

hit below the knees.
Very true...but of course since it's teh PATRIOT's QB..all is just as it is.. Goodell is a dunce..and the quicker he's toast the better it is for football..

Re: PFT: No tampering charges.

The Raiders couldn't bring tampering charges against the Patriots now even if they wanted to. One of the points in the memo Goodell sent out was that any competitive rules violations must be made in a timely manner; 18 months later is certainly not 'in a timely manner.'

Besides, the Raiders are already on thin ice for making a false accusation in this matter. To file tampering charges now, it would insure the NFL would turn around and penalize the Raiders.

This is a real no-news story. PFT is trying to make something out of nothing.

And that's different from many media outlets how? :D Gotta pull the readers in, anyway they can. News? What is "news" has become whatever topic and headline will grab the most interest, with lesser regard given to validity and relevance.

Anyway, good news there wasn't tampering, my respect for the Pats organization was hanging in the balance, you know.

Once he is toast, we should all elect me as the next commissioner.
