I'd like him back at a reasonable figure.

Odd. I thought that Stallworth did decently enough in his year here. Maybe he didn't build on his reputation, but I don't see how he did anything to hurt it.

This could be good news. At least for us.

I read that, it seems a little weird as I thought Stallworth was very good through the Indy game - and, quote honestly, I thought it was a weird move to start playing Gaffney more. Still, they must have had a reason; maybe Stallworth wasn't running his routes well or something. Anyway, I doubt we'd pay him too much based on his playing time down the stretch.

I'd still really want to see what 22 year old Chad Jackson can bring to the table.

Of course, for a third year in a row this can once again look like a very dumb comment, but who knows.

We all want to see if Chad Jack has anything or is el busto. That said, who would you rather see as our recievers after Moss ( I hope) & Welker....Chad Jackson, Donte Stallworth or Gaffney?? I pick Donte & Jabar over Chad Jack....

I'll have absolutely no complaints if we end up with the same group of receivers we had last year. That being said I will be shocked if Donte can't find another team interested in him.

I'd rather see Kelly Washington brought back if I had to choose between Stallworth, Gaffney and Washington. He was the teams best special teams player in 2007, IMO. He stopped several punts inside the 5, and was among the league's best gunners. I also liked what I saw of him in preseason, and I think he could be a pretty good replacemant for Gaffney, should Gaffney depart as a free agent.

I'm surprised that Stallworth has not recieved more interest, given that about half the teams in the league are in the market for a WR. Stallworth showed plenty of playmaking ability here. Are teams shying away from here because his role diminished as the season progressed? Did he do something here to hurt his reputation that maybe slipped by the media? I feel like he has at lest earned himself another "prove it" type deal like he got here.

If that's true sign his ass up cheap. There is no way though Donte does not go anywhere.

This is going to sound like crazy story BS time. But im going to say it anyway.

From someone i highly respect and trust we both know a security worker at Gillette who sees and hears things we dont. He tells us small things here and there and this seemed out there but he said Stallworth could never run the right routes. He messed them up constantly, if that is true then we all know why Gaffney started with more PT.

It doesn't sound crazy at all because there was no logical reason for his diminished time once he got his hands on the ball.

I don't see what else it could be besides doing something the coaches didn't like.

Yea but my guy told me this about week 4 or 5.

I just thought of it as him just guessing. I dont want to be one of those people slinging stories around.

I see him going back to his Tennessee roots with K.Washington. Maybe VY can get him to run straight.....

    Re: No market for Donte'??

Well, 2 things on that :

    1) If he had problems being in the right place it would have been known by Week 4 or 5 - they must have just finally had enough at the bye week. So the timeframe fits for me that your guy had heard something earlier but the playing time change happened a little later.

    2) Remember Stallworth was surprised at being PUPed early in training camp and there was some talk that he had playbook issues.

I'm a bit shocked if indeed there is "no market" for him

He met my expectations - even in a season when Moss was "taking" dozens of pass reps away from him.

All I wanted from him was a season similar to what he did in Philly - about 3 passes a game, which is what he did here. Of course in Philly he was the primary deep threat and had a 19 ypc average. Here we needed him to produce in many aspects of the game - short, mid range, and not so much the long game.

If anything he proved he's more than just a one trick pony.

He'd be plenty welcome back next season for me.

    Re: No market for Donte'??

    1) Okay that makes sense

2)I didnt remember he was Puped. i thought he wasnt there on time due to prior comitments or something.

They are already trying to work with Gaffney, Reiss mentioned it a few days ago. Didnt mention if progress was made.

It is a bit early for there to be "no market". This issue is whether anyone wants to pay the amount of money that Donte thinks he's worth (likely what the patriots paid).

The patriots are surely moving to try to re-sign Moss and Gaffney, which makes sense to me. I would also try to re-sign Washington. These all come before looking at paying Stallworth serious money. At that point, we could have Moss, Gaffney, Welker, Washington and Jackson. Under these circumstances how much should we be willing to pay Stallworth?

Perhaps at each point we would consider Stallworth. Does he want to play for what we would pay Gaffney or Washington? By the time he might answer "yes", it may be too late.
