Yeah but Patriot homers speak the truth. Bronco fans are just a bunch of morons.

Dude, is that you in your avatar picture?

You look just like Prince Oberyn!

No. That's Lorne Malvo of "Fargo", the TV mini-series. A truly despicable human being. May God have mercy on his soul.

I have several non Bronco fans (Ravens, Colts, Chiefs, Chargers, Patriot, and many more). When I jokingly asked them to take Decker off of our hands when it was clear we wouldn't resign him, the typical answer was "expletive no". Decker was pretty good in our system and I won't bash him because he's gone, but the knock on him for a while now is for a 6'3" WR he's pretty soft. That has never been said about said Sanders. And Decker did get drastically overpaid, but by who....the Jets. Of all teams, you guys should know the caliber of thier personnel departement (not the greatest).

I honestly don't see how the broncos upgraded with Ware....if anything he replaces Phillips who had 10+ sacks last year. Miller got caught with amphetamines so I am still waiting to see if he can still be an impact player after his aversge 2013 season.

The only area where the broncos improved IMO is at safety with TJ Ward. Sanders is a downgrade from Decker, and Ware and Phillips are about the same.

Ware is someone that draws regular double teams, if healthy. Miller is a guy that draws regular double teams, if healthy. Phillips is someone that rarely drew double teams, when healthy. It's an upgrade, assuming health.

Ware's numbers have been going down for the past few seasons. Hopefully the tend will continue.

I'll agree there. But he's also been hurt over the last few seasons with some nagging injuries.

In an offseason where they were ramping up their defense, the Broncos let Phillps walk and were all over Ware. That's because Ware's been the better player throughout their respective careers.

As for the sacks, Ware had 6 in a 13 game injury-filled season. It's not as if he didn't record any. Ware's last 4 season sack totals:

    15.5
    19.5
    11.5
    6

Phillips' last 4 season sack totals:

    11
    3.5
    9.5
    10

Ware is also younger than Phillips. Unless you think Ware completely lost it last year rather than him just having a down year because of the injuries and missed games, you go with Ware, without hesitation.

Also worth mentioning that von miller is coming off a torn ACL and so is chris harris.

Can you recall any play involving Decker in the superbowl. DT got hammered on the 1st passing play, seperated his shoulder and still competed for every pass. Welker and Julius Thomas were a little hesitant, but they were hammered a couple times as well. Decker was on a milk carton.

Thank you for this non biased perspective. There's been a lot of talk saying Ware is too old, falling off, not an upgrade over Phillips. Phillips was good for us last season, but as it's been stated Ware demands a double team, similar to Von. When played together, you can only double one. They are both coming off of injuries, but there's no way Ware isn't an upgrade over the older Phillips.

There's nothing wrong with saying another team upgraded. I think the Pat's secondary is going to be crazy good. Physical and athletic. Matching that with the mad scientist BB, that defense is going to be scary.

Thinking that Decker is overrated and thinking that he's worse than Sanders are two very different things.

More than a question of better/worse, though, I just think that Sanders is an objectively worse fit for the Broncos' offense. For all of his strengths, Manning has one of the weakest arms in the league at this point: he needs big bodies downfield who can go up and get the ball, because he won't be rifling it into small spaces. Roethlisberger has that element to his game, which is why smaller guys like Sanders and Brown can get it done in the deeper parts of the field.

BTW, there were extended discussions about Sanders here last year when the Pats signed him to an RFA deal. The reaction was pretty mixed, with a lot of people here being really intrigued based on his agility, elusiveness, and the potential that maybe he was overlooked in Pittsburgh and has more to offer than his production shows. OTOH, lots of folks weren't totally on board with a guy who has multiple foot injuries, little size, and who never really stood out even in Pittsburgh's playground offense.

IMO, Decker is slightly better than Sanders overall. As a system fit, though, he's much better for Denver.

Yeah, seriously. Ware is much, much better than Phillips. They'll get less bang for their buck than they did for Phillips last year, but that's just because they got Phillipps super cheap on a one-year deal. If that legitimate point has somehow morphed into "Ware isn't an upgrade from Phillips", then that's just crazy.

Miller was far from average in 2013. He was suspended and injured, which meant that, like Gronk, he played a very abbreviated season. But, also like Gronk, he was a force when he did play.

Assuming he makes a full recovery, and I don't see any reason not to assume that he will, he should be a DPOY contender in 2014. He's really, really good.

So are all the Patriots. It's fashionable in 2014 to compare incision scars and knee braces. Gronk and Easley are the most interesting newbies, but it seems like a pre-requisite for top players to have had an ACL repaired by Dr. James Andrews. Vollmer, Tommy Kelly, Brady, Revis, Ninkovich. Mankins, Wes Welker, Von Miller, Chris Harris, etc., etc.

Peyton is the odd man out with four neck surgeries that seem a lot more ominous. My guess is that Manning twisted his neck just to get greater attention from ESPN.

Most boards skew homer and are heavily anti-rival. This place is no different. You have to learn the individual posters. Kontradiction and BradyFTW! are usually pretty straight shooters, for example.

I should point out, though, your blind defense of the Five-head regarding the teabagging incident doesn't really give you much room to talk about bias.

Miller had 5 sacks in 9 games....in a 16 game season that amounts to 10 sacks, which is average compared to what he did in 2012. Again, the guy got caught with amphetamines, which is found in adderall...let's see what he can do without help .

More like 8 games, considering that he tore his ACL in the first quarter against the Texans. That said, there's a whole lot more to being an edge rusher than just your sack total. It's about as misinformed as saying that McCourty isn't that great because he only had 1 INT last year. 5 sacks in 8 games doesn't capture anything close to the whole story: doesn't account for the fact that he actually drops into coverage, doesn't account for the double teams, doesn't account for the pressures, etc.

I watched most of the 8 games that he played. He was a dominant force who was constantly double teamed and dropped into coverage with surprising frequency for someone who rushes the passer so well.
