So they should get a cost of living adjustment(upwards) even though the cost of living has gone down?

And you people call yourselves deficit hawks?

If it were up to me I would privatize SS. That would reduce the deficit in the future since the ponzi scheme is going to go broke.

I am commenting onthe double standard of the media. BTW who says the cost of living has gone down? They have also dictated no COL adjustment next year also. How do they know the COL in advance after all they have been wrong on all thier estimates so far.

They are reducing benefits Pure and simple. If the pubbies had done this the dems and their Media gofers would crucify the pubs. Now silence....

The cost of living has gone down for most of us ... mostly related to energy. I would suspect for seniors it has gone up because RX prices / healthcare in general are on the rise.

Sure all those Enron Execs are getting out of jail, they have to do something with the giant pile of money that Social Security controls. Lets put the Enron guys in charge of it and while we're at it weaken the accounting laws and government oversight of this private enterprise. What could possibly go wrong?

Its in Tanked's link that, you know, this thread is founded on. Oh and if by using the word 'dictated' you mean 'predicted' that's all well and good; but the two words mean completely separate things.

Perhaps the Enron guys will be busy with getting involved in Obama's cap and trade scheme, after all Enron was the first group to propose it like their other scams they saw it as a great money maker.

I would rather have SS monies in the hands of individuals. You always think of centralized power as a Libertarian I see the inidvidual are the netity to empower.

I have read that the gov has already said no SS increase till 2012 (in time ofr the election?)

fact is that incrementally, social security has become a smaller and smaller part of people's retirement money.........

how will things play out when federal health care has to pare benefits the same way?

which is exactly why national health care is a bad thing

it is obvious you do not understand the social security system.......there is no pile of money.......the government has spent it and in its place has put a bunch of treasury bonds.......

    your analogy is pretty ignorant

and every single month more money comes in than what gets spent. We're still years away before the projected point where what the government has to pay out in Social Security benefits for the month is less than what it takes in in Social Security payroll taxes, Tanked.

What money did you think 13 intended to be used to fund this privatization scheme that the Pubbies have been carrying on about?

Pubbies don't have the stones to reform SS. The system will go into the ditch and hurt the country, when my generation retires, screwing my kids and grandkids.
