    America

    So,

People that make less give more, nice to know when the tax debate comes up again....:D

I'll wait for WP or Patsfan13 to respond with "They pay so much in taxes and can't afford it" or "This is a liberal site" or "They don't want to give handouts to lazy kids with cancer or the girls of rape and abuse that are just lazy bottom feeders trying to get a free ride"

    lol......

If you have to put words in my mouth, then your point really couldn't have been terribly strong to begin with.

    From your link

    >>> Red states are more generous than blue states. The eight states where residents gave the highest share of income to charity went for John McCain in 2008. The seven-lowest ranking states supported Barack Obama. <<<

I never said anything about Left or the right....So.....Yeah....

Do I care if your right or left? No....
Do I care if one or the other gives more? No....

What I care about is rich vs poor, see I know lots of Repub's that give and donate and that's good! I also know some libs that donate and give back and that's good!

You all are consumed by right vs left and you should be consumed by what's right and what's wrong.....

Bottom line: The ones with less give more......be it right or left is doesn't matter.....

BTW I believe in border control, gun ownership, tort reform, lower taxes and less government...I'm a big huge liberal!!! lmao.....

I lived out there for awhile so I am not really surprised. The OP lived/lives there so I passed the info on to him.

And blue states subsidize red states. Is there any coincidence that most blue states pay more to the federal gov than they get back from it?

Red states talk tough fiscal discipline but are always taking hand outs from the likes of New England

Until I see an actual accounting of those figures, that point that I constantly hear made in here, is kinda worthless. What spending is included in those figures? Is it everything from highway dollars, to SNAP payments, to nuclear missle silo maintenance? I'm not saying that you, or those who echo that line are wrong mind you. I'm merely saying that I hear that, but I've never seen it explained in numbers. I'd be curious if that is even possible to do. You'd not only have to account for how each and every federal dollar is spent, you'd have to also account for where each dollar came from too.

Actually, they don't necessarily give more. A higher percentage doesn't mean a higher dollar figure. If you make $300k and give 4%, and I make $50k and give 7%, which one of us gave more?

Liberals just don't do math well. One of the reasons we're in the situation we're in.

What was the greater sacrifice?? A person making 50K who gave $350.00, or a person who made $300K and gave 12K...

I would think the former, the latter has a greater tax benefit..

BTW in the past have researched where the federal dollars flow, and one of the highest states is Texas, who receive signficiantly much more than they give..

So they can whine and bytch about secesssion, but they will lose beacoup bucks if they pursue this..

    #95 Jersey

    $350/50K = .7%
    12k/300K=4%
So you think that the person who gave less, in aggregate and by percentage made the bigger sacrifice??? I'll take the guy giving $1000 per month versus the guy ( or gal) giving a little less than $30 per month. You can do a lot more good with the $1000 and help more people.

    Fair enough 13.

I was just looking at it from the "well the link includes religious donations as charity and 60%+ of Utah is Mormon and they "have" to give 10%". Seemed like simple math to me, but then again, didn't know the dynamics you were speaking to re: the OP.

    5. Hawaii: $2.38

In contrast, 55 percent of the states that went to Obama received more federal spending than they paid in taxes. Republican states, on average, received $1.46 in federal spending for every tax dollar paid; Democratic states, on average, received $1.16.”

You are right, I live down here and they do donate but its not all really donating all of the time...

Like in the article, the man from Orem(where I have lived before) gave 250k to BYU, now that's a donation but its not a donation to charity.....You can't give money to a school that is rich beyond belief and call it charity.

Charity is giving to the sick and the poor, to the ones in need, not to the ones that already have it all.......There is always context to every situation....
