    Your title is very misleading

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonath...cal_rules.html

Seems like Obama was afraid to visit the troups without his media entourage.

I don't even get the question as he wasn't prevented (unless the REAL OBAMA requires the press) and you start out with "silly righties". Your thread deserves no response.

The visit was planned and arranged, and the Pentagon announced to him on short notice the planned visit could not happen.

Talk about only hearing what your programmed mind is permitted to hear! You guys are nuts. The Pentagon cancelled the planned visit, and they withheld information until the day of the visit. What a crock, saying "ohhhhhh he can only visit the troops if his campaign comes with him" -- when his Senate staff (the "allowable" staff,) had already got on the plane to go home.

You guys need to look inside and ask if you believe yourselves. Nobody else does.

Can you supply a realiable link that states "The Pentagon cancelled the planned visit" because this is the first time I've heard this? All the news sources I've read, heard on the radio or saw on tv state he had the opportunity to visit the troups.

Sorry PFIV, I think you are grasping here.

They didn't stop him from visiting they would allow reporters so he could use the troops at props for a photo op, so e couldn't be bothered visiting the troops if no photo op was involved, the real BO indeed.:singing:

They refused to allow his point of contact for the visit... to visit. So yeah, without notice, we get "Sure, just don't bring your staff." Evidently, the Pentagon banned a retired major general acting as the Obama campaign point-of-contact:

    http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/07/25/1225016.aspx

The reason the Pentagon will not allow General Gration on base is as yet unexplained. Evidently, Pentagon sources speculate that Gration got "torqued" and therefore the visit was off. Gration says that the Pentagon is torpedoing the visit. Certainly banning staffers from the event is not exactly the best way to grease the skids and make things run smoothly; to do so AFTER the departure of the Senate staffers certainly does not look coincidental.

But you guys have bought the whole bill of goods from the right for so long you really, truly believe that Obama "shows his true colors" if he is not visiting troops, and is somehow not sincere enough when he is visiting troops. I don't expect anything resembling serious discourse anymore.

Think about it, dudes. You have your beloved sitting president, responsible for over 4,000 American deaths, for "reasons" that have long since evaporated, leaving us with "um... well we're there now."

You've got a guy who called the draw-down timeline perhaps a week or two ago, and in the intervening time everybody from Bush to Maliki to McCain has climbed on board. Bush and McCain even now believe it was their idea.

The guy is going to save the lives of Americans and Iraqis, and soldiers responded to him pretty enthusiastically elsewhere on the trip.

And what's the pentagon think? Petraeus plays nice on their photo op, and then they tweek the campaign on the way out.

But you clowns trying to spin this into "he really hates the troops" is utter bullcrap. It's a wonder you guys believe the rot you spew in these forums, but you do. So what's the point?

The Pentagon kept him off the base, but you've been crowing too long about how "the real Obama" skipped the visit, and couldn't cope when it turned out the Pentagon was behind the snafu.

Eh, you're still good for a laugh.

If anything, this story absolutely shows what a first class phoney Obama is.

He is told he can't make his trip a canpaign photo-op, and to not use injuried soilders as a campaign backdrop, and that he can not bring his beloved press corp with him, so he cancels.

Isn't he a United States Senator? Shouldn't he at least visit some constituants who have been injured fighting for this country without making it about him?

    Disgusting.

This issue is laughable. He makes a trip and meets with soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq and elsewhere, is welcomed by hundreds of thousands, lauded by the media, gets warm greetings by conservatives Merkel and Sarkozy, and bitter the righties are reduced to lying about his visit to Afghanistan and complaining he didn't make a special trip to visit a few wounded soldiers. Sure, it would have been nice if he did so, but if he visited them, the righties would have complained that he did so for publicity reasons.

Let's check and see if McCain visits wounded soldiers in every city he goes to. The issue is absurd and purely political. It's disgusting the way the rightis are exploiting our wounded soldiers as a means of attacking Obama. Have they no shame?

I never commented on it because I thought there might be something more to it, a slick snake oil salesman like Obama would never purposely do that he knows the heat would be all over him.
F-ck Barack Hussein Obama, we will all see the real Obama once he's coronated and sitting on his throne in the Oval Office.

He's running on "Change", America isn't going to like the change but if he is what they want so be it, the Republicans deserve the BEATING their going to take running an old Liberal A$s Hole Democrat Mole like Mccain.

    Good Luck.

    GOD DAMN AMERICA

Well hell, Harry, I disagree with you on just about everything, and your phrasing manages to work in how terrible Obama is as a person etc., but at least you got the point. No, he's not snubbing the wounded. Yes, there's more to it.

I mean even with the digs you packaged in there, I can respect that.

For the record ... there would have been no press and no pictures ... try again. Also ... more sound bites concerning this huge lie.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSL520037420080726
Also "Laughable" ??? Only a liberal would call a story about visiting wounded troops laughable.

What, is there a 1000-word cordon now around the word "military", so that if right wingers describing the military are called "laughable," that's now some sort of thought crime.

Dunno what you're pointing out on the part of Patters. I called you guys laughable. That's not quite the same thing as calling wounded troops laughable. For the record, it's also pretty funny how the Pentagon engineered this, although it worked on the right wing blog punks, so the usual 20% are towing the line on it.

I know you're in the 20%, so that's fine. It's a happy little delusional world, where the white house supplies talking points to the "no spin zone"/"Fair and balanced network," and they air them for the same old hard core lockstep disneyland right wingers. Then they're regurgitated ad infinitum by the bloggers, and the bloggers make up their own "news outlets", and we see them repeated here and elsewhere.

Thing is, everybody knows that the white house lies. Everybody knows that the Pentagon impeding access to Obama, followed by a blogosphere wildfire about how Obama hates the troops blah blah blah, is a lie. You guys just lie habitually. Your elites know they're lying, which just makes them the usual bunch of cynical hacks. The grass roots are sort of sad and funny at the same time, parroting the party line. I don't even know how many of them know they're lying.

It's a joke, dudes. The right lies, pure and simple. They do it a lot, they do it repetitively, and they do it very indignantly and self-righteously.

The rest of us are sick of it.

The end is near for this regime of lies, gentlemen. :)

Enjoy the fading rays of glory surrounding your outgoing emperor.
