PatriotsDaily.com On the Game Day Roster

When Eric Mangini was fired following yet another New York Jets stretch run collapse, some might’ve thought that perhaps the animosity between the two franchises would take a little breather. Maybe the games this season wouldn’t be quite the over-the-top storyline-filled dramas that we’ve come to expect. Maybe it would just be about football.

If we’ve learned anything over the years, it is that Patriots/Jets is always going to be contentious, no matter who the faces on the sidelines are. Whether it was Weeb Ewbank, Joe Walton, Bill Parcells, Herman Edwards or Mangini, the games between these two franchises have always been circuses.

It seems clear that Rex Ryan aims to keep it that way.

That's some for real talk coming from Rex Ryan, I hope he realizes the consequences of said actions.

On another note, how great would it be to start the season 2-0, getting 1/3rd of the divisional schedule out of the way right off the bat?!!

We're you know going to you know play you know THUG BALL you know. And give the Pats so many yards in penalties they score two TD. For you know, just being you know on the field.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with what Ryan said.

What this "article" is all about is a Patriots homer that hates to see a division rival speaking with confidence, nitpicking every little thing and finding things that aren't there.

For example, how is this a "jab at the Patriots?" They asked Ryan how many stitches a player got. “I don’t know how many,” Ryan said, referring to the number of stitches required to get Harris’ cut under control. “We’re keeping that from New England.” This is just a harmless joke and playing into the very spirit of the game.

What a completely ignorant article written by a true knucklehead. You don't have to search that hard for reasons to hate the Jets.

I smell a Jets fan. What has your team done lately to justify "speaking with confidence"?

Sounds like you've got some personal issues with the article itself. I liked reading it and think it adds to the rivalry. Rex Ryan, aka "loudmouth/larda$$" is personally calling out BB and the Patriots with those comments. Whether it's for publicity or personal, it's just plain dumb. Which seems to sum up everything associated with the entire Jets organization.

We'll see if Ryan's Jets can back up his talk. As bland as it is, I prefer the BB approach to the media.

At first, I was going to take issue with this, then I re-read your post, saw you characterize Ryan's comments as "speaking with confidence", and I just laughed instead.

I don't "hate" the Jets, I reserve that for people or entities that maliciously attempt to do harm to me, my family or friends. I also don't hold strong feelings against the guys who put on spikes and step between the lines in a Jets uniform, unless they behave like idiots or personally exhibit bad sportsmanship. Most of them are warriors and deserve our respect, even as we cheer for the Pats and just about every other team in the league to beat them badly on Sundays (I say "just about" becuase there are times when we want them to win, like in Week 17 last year).

I do, however, despise, detest, disdain, disrespect and generally abhor the Jets ownership, their management, nearly all of their fans (especially those who get drunk out of their already diminished "minds" on Game Day at the Meadowlands or whatever they're going to call their new stadium) and the local beat media in NY who follow them and exhibit the ethics and competence of, well, the Herald.

As for Rex Ryan, he's just doing his job with the media and will probably regret giving BB bulletin board material. The bottom line is that he hasn't won a game in the NFL as an HC, let alone four Conference Championships and three SB's. Until he does something or wins something, he's not worth our time or energy.

Neither did he. That is what is so funny. He can't tell the difference between confidence and bravado.

The media will love this guy. They love people who talk without engaging their brain. Makes for great stories. Of course the media will turn on him as soon as it makes a better story.

I love that he is following in his father's footsteps. Not only is it nice to honor one's father that way, but his father was a briliant DC and a mediocre HC. I'm fine with a mediocre Jests HC.

Semantics at work here. Those of us who hate the Jets also despise, detest, etc etc.

You are just using a narrower definition of hate. Fandom hate is like hating a movie, hating mole sauce, hating BBQ pork, hating clowns in the MNF booth.

I wouldn't get too worked up about fans hating other teams. Hating BBQ pork, on the other hand, is just plain wrong.
