GOP will hold the WH for 16 years. Great pick.

I don't know much about Ryan and have read things I disliked about his budget (if accurate), but he at least seems like a serious pick to me -- unlike Palin.

I love this pick, ryan will be like a lead weight around mitts neck. There will be endless adds about the ryan budget that calls for getting rid of SS and Medicare.

LOL... "GOP wll hold the WH for 16 years..."

Sounds like a Jets fan in the offseason not just predicting a SB but a dynasty

41 and never had a job outside of politics except driving the Oscar Meyer weinermobile... So much for Mitt's new constitutional requirement for a president to have business experience...

I find it hard to believe it will be Ryan, even though the reports are saying so. Ryan to me is the best choice for the Democrats because he has controversial views that can (right or wrong) be easily attacked and framed in ways that turn people off and he doesn't attract a new demographic to the Republican Party. Further, in respect to economic policy, in some ways Romney will play second fiddle to Ryan, which I think will make Romney look worse. That said, Ryan is articulate and is a favorite of the Tea Party. I'm glad it's Ryan.

This might be their attemp to grab a youth vote by pounding the drum about gramma & grampa being so expensive... The call to generational warfare

This pick is sure to win over the Independent voter, whom Mick needs in order to win the Presidency.

Are you being ironic, Scout? Independents? How so?

    Tongue in cheek.
This was the conservative's pick. The T-Party will applaud this choice. It does not win him the election. I would be interested in seeing how the Florida seniors respond to this pick.

I was hoping Mitt would be dumb enough to make this pick. Feels like Christmas!

Even I thought the latest Newsweek cover was dumb...but maybe they were right.

edit: that khayos thinks this is a great pick is surefire evidence that this is, in fact, a bad pick. VP selections aren't going to win an election, but they can certainly lose them.

McDonnell would have been the smart choice. Ditto Portman.

I was hoping that he would not select Portman, and gave him Florida with Rubio. I agree with you, that the VP selection is more apt to lose an election. The geography basis seems to be null and void, which I really don't understand. A Democrat from Ma. takes Texas (JFK/Johnson) should be enough evidence to justify that reasoning.

Looks like me and the Mrs...Mrs. from Va. were spot on with our prediction ( for different reasons naturally)
    Of course I am Patradomous.

Paul Ryan is a absolutely great pick.

Mitt Romney first decision as the next commander in chief is not only a courageous pick bout a bold one as well.

And what better evidence that Romney is losing this campaign.

Unfortunately for him, this hail mary just sealed his fate.

Picking Ryan to be the VP will not resonate well amongst my peers, as all of us vote and all feel quite disenfranchised by his plans for Social Security and Medicare....

Florida with its concentration of seniors may have just been taken out of play..

Perhaps this pick has to do with pandering to this breakaway group, that wants to proceed towards a brokered convention.. perhaps him being a catholic will negate their efforts..

Yeah, electing a white male Christian who appeals to his base is really bold. If anything, it's a cautious choice. In my opinion, it's too cautious a choice, but like most Democrats I'm happy with it.

I believe they said the same about McCain.
