Please, Somebody, Am I Reading This Right?

I mean, I think I am. I think this is about the same Paul Ryan that's running for Vice President. I think "The three words which describe Paul Ryan's speech" are

    1) Dazzling
    2) Deceiving
    3) Distracting

I think there's relatively intelligent commentary backing up the headline - as well as facts and links.

And I think it was written for and published by FoxNews.

    Paul Ryan

I do believe the end times are upon us.

Those are also the same three things I'd say about FOX news.

along with Dishonest, if given a 4th option....after all they report, and I get to decide.

Yes, Fox News has liberal bloggers. Part of being Fair and Balanced.

Note -- it's an opinion piece. By a liberal.

    2009

Assembly work continued at the Janesville Assembly until April 2009, completing the GM/Isuzu light truck partnership and then an additional 40 to 50 "skilled trade employees" worked to decommission the plant.[15]

The fact is that Ryan lied about what Obama said.. he never promised to keep it open..

Obama did speak at the plant in February 2008, and suggested that a government partnership with automakers could keep the plant open, but made no promises as Ryan suggested.

From The Detroit News: Ryan criticizes Obama on '08 GM plant closure from before he took office | The Detroit News | detroitnews.com

However it essentially closed in Dec. of 2008.. when the majority of the 1,000workers were laid off..

People still think Fox is fair and balanced? That's cute.

It's as "fair & balanced" as any other news entity inside the mainstream. Anyone who thinks that the other outlets are honest brokers of the truth, are fooling themselves. The only difference in media slant or bias, is the direction, and the degree.

Ryan made no references to Obamas promises last night.

President Barack Obama came to office during an economic crisis, as he has reminded us a time or two. Those were very tough days, and any fair measure of his record has to take that into account. My home state voted for President Obama. When he talked about change, many people liked the sound of it, especially in Janesville, where we were about to lose a major factory.

A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that GM plant. Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said: "I believe that if our government is there to support you … this plant will be here for another hundred years." That's what he said in 2008.

Well, as it turned out, that plant didn't last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that's how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight.

The plant was open until April of 2009 producing ISZU trucks.

Best part of that OP-Ed is where the author makes sure he tells you that "Ryan quoted Obama accurately"

Then elipses out a crucial portion of what Obama said.

    from the op-ed:

Here is a quote from Ryan on the stump:

    here is the ACTUAL quote:

Here is what Obama said that Ryan never mentions in his distorted view:

apparently it layed off the last 57 workers then, the gov't aid didn't come.

so in 2008, it layed off 750 workers.

    quick Math test....

what percentage is 57 of 750?

    (answer at the bottom)

Janesville GM Assembly Plant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

some fun facts on that page...Ryan's facts must be from bizzaro-world.com.web or something...

THIS is all you need to know:

funny it also includes Obama's ENTIRE quote, not a cherry picked portion of it.

its frickin sad how your candidates create lies, and you soldiers believe them and defend the easily checked falsehoods.

    Layoff totals:

    2008: 92.4%
    2009: 07.6%

Clearly Ryan is caught in a fabrication (as evidenced by Holly Diver's post). The responses to defend Ryan are not even close to debatable. But what is even more confusing is that Ryan is contradicting Mitt's 'let them fail' policy. The Mitt/Ryan hardliners can spin and defend all they want, but this will end badly for them.

Gee a lib blogger at Fox plays the DNC Ryan talking points meme, knock me over with a feather.

Of course the criticism is the 'lie' I prefer fabrications. To take one point the GM plant that is closed in WI. Obama is on video saying that he could keep the plant alive. Ryan also specified that the plant was in the process of being closed when candidate Obama went there on 2008 and created a false hope for the workers there.

The rest of the DNC media spin is refuted here:

The 'fact checkers' can't get away with their crap in the era of the internet and youtube.

from June 2008, Barak says about Janesville plant:
