What a sad day, RIP to one of the greatest actors and human beings ever. I'll watch tonight Cool Hand Luke in remembrance.

The Verdict is still one of my favorite Boston movies. He was amazing in that.

Slap Shot was a classic. His Character always reminded me of Wayne Cashman.

His work in "Road to Perdition" was beautiful. An aging, gifted actor, doing more just by the look in his eyes than anything he said, much like Burt Lancaster in Field of Dreams.

You make an excellent point in Road to Perdition. In his eyes, you see glee when he's playing the piano next to Michael, disgust with his son after the murders and in his own decision to kill Michael, and a sense of betrayal (on his part) mixed with sadness when he's staring down Michael holding a Thompson. IMO, it's one of the top three performances of his career.

I'm too young to have enjoyed you in your heyday, Mr. Newman, but you were a great actor. May you rest in peace.
