His reasoning is because Bruce Irvin is too fast for our offense? Obviously doesn't understand the concept of the no huddle and mismatches. Let's see how fast he is when Ridley is running right at him with Vollmer and Gronk leading the way.

The Patriots did OK against Von Miller for the most part.

Can Bruce Irvin defend the screen pass? Unless the answer is yes, I'm not intimidated. Everything I've seen, he's a pin-your-ears-back speed rusher. The way to beat that in the NFL is pretty well documented.

Mike Florio and Michael David Smith from Pro Football Talk are both going with the Patriots.

PFT’s Week Six picks | ProFootballTalk

    Patriots at Seahawks

MDS’s take: I’m having a hard time getting a read on either of these teams. Are the Patriots the team that turned in a disappointing effort at home against the Cardinals, or the team whose offense has been all but unstoppable against the Bills and Broncos? Are the Seahawks the team that dominated Dallas or the team whose offense could hardly move the ball at all in their other four games? I don’t know, but I think the Patriots’ offense is good enough to put a lot of points on the board against a good Seattle defense.

    MDS’s pick: Patriots 28, Seahawks 14.

Florio’s take: After the Seahawks beat the Cowboys by 20, I said I’d never pick against the Seahawks at home again. But I hadn’t looked at the schedule. The Pats won there in 2008, without Tom Brady. With him, the Pats will run their all-time record at CenturyLink Field to 2-0.

    Florio’s pick: Patriots 27, Seahawks 17.

The Pats HAVE to learn to win low-scoring games. I think this will be a very low score and I really hope the Pats win!

I don't take Peter King's predictions too seriously. He did pick the Broncos to win the super bowl this year....2-3...yup, straight to the SB.

Vinnie Iyer at the Sporting News has the Pats winning by 10.

NFL Week 6 picks: 49ers' passing game will bring down Giants - NFL - Sporting News

    Coaching Matchup of the Week

New England Patriots at Seattle Seahawks (Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET, CBS). With a 17-20 regular season record so far with the Seahawks, it will be tough for Pete Carroll to match his three-year record in New England (27-21). Of course, Bill Belichick has done pretty well replacing Carroll (142-55, three Super Bowl wins).

The Seahawks have an excellent defense—powerful up front, big, fast and rangy in the back. Their crowd also will play a big factor here. But let’s stay simple: The combination of Belichick and Tom Brady trumps Carroll and rookie Russell Wilson. Patriots 23, Seahawks 13

Should be a lower scoring game. Like a 24-14, 23-20 type of game.

More than their pass rush, their big secondary worries me especially if they can cover the TE's well. This has to be WWW's game .

We have our two dynamic TEs back...not just one. If they put a man on gronk or hernandez it probably won't be a LB leaving opportunities for welker and lloyd

90% of people in here and just about everywhere else predicts the Seahawks to score anywhere between 13-19 points.

That pretty much guarantees the Seahawks either score 30 or more or 10 or less :bricks:

I don't see Hernandez being a full time player this week...maybe not even play,I think he will be a gametime decision and if he plays it will be sparingly with Fells and Edelman getting time in.

And he forgot that if Irvin becomes a nuisance they will run over his ass. Just stay out of third and long. And once in a while run the ball on third and long just to pancake his ass. I mean it could be fun for somebody, right?

I say the Pats have a slight defensive lapse in the 4th quarter tightening the game to 45-3

A fast pass rush may bring back the screen pass. It all depends on how much pressure the Seahawks get with their front 4. If it is like the giants, we could be in for a long day. If the Seahawks need to bring more people, I expect to see lots of screens and draws.

And he also doesn't acknowledge that both the Bears and Colts did a great job pressuring and sacking Rodgers. It wasn't just the Seahawks who got to Rodgers thuis year. The Colts sacked Rodgers 5 times and hit him another 6. And the Bears also sacked him 5 times and hit him another 6. The Packers' o-line is worse than the Pats and Rodgers holds onto the ball a lot longer than Brady does. And even then, the Packers adjusted in the second half.

The Pats usually counter a team that pressures the QB like this with a lot of quick passes and other plays that use their aggressiveness against them. Unless the Seahawks can get pressure up the middle with Bryant, Brady usually eats outside rushers for breakfast.
